I remember Graham and I hosting our first event there with not enough workers, a broken timer, and a course that used every cone and over the two days must have had every cone hit at least twice. I walked into the hotel and I thought Chris Peterson and Kevin Butler who were auditing were going to kill me.

I vaguely remember that event Rob. I've been trying to block it from my memory!

i remember a couple of them........

my first ever, thinking how much it sucks to stand in one place for over two hours in the fourth heat.

the Mexican restaurant with the awesome carnitas......

the redneck bar with the coldest of cold ass beers across the street from the Hampton. Emmett sleeping it off in my trailer on the second day of some long ago forgotten two day event.........

craters and moon rocks where pavement should have been......

L'burg, may it rest in peace.

My sentiments exactly. I went to L'burg for the first time April of last year, wanna guess how many times I've gone back since?

Here's one for you Cash. The old Talon was one ESP ass-kicking machine. I miss that car. :(

It looks like the right rear tire is barely making contact with the pavement. The good news is with AWD the other three would GIT-R-DONE! 8)

I'm with you on this on, John. It was our smallest, and most expensive site. It was so hot in the summer that I even had a heat stroke there in 2010. But, a restaurant, nice bathrooms, and the opportunity to do a lot with a little made Greenville one of my favorite sites.

CRazy.

I agree that L'burg isn't what it used to be, but Greenville never was

I quietly voiced this opinion last year: Laurinburg is past its use-by date. It probably has been for a long time, but especially once we lost access to the traditional layout, it became...suboptimal.

Course design has been a challenge there for a decade or more, and last year, it got really difficult. You'll think you've got an idea for something good, then realize there are craters right in the middle of it. Or that you'll have to spend the day with a weedwacker, as Brice, Mary and I did last year. Or that the grid and paddock areas are so full of holes, cracks and rocks that you might break an endlink while changing tires or walking the course. :) The place taunted me, with occasional areas of great concrete, surrounded by trash. And probably surrounded by unseen government contractors carrying assault rifles, too.

The carnitas at the Mexican place are really good, though, Remchak is right.

If it goes away, I'll keep many fond memories of events in the past in my mind, but I can't say that I'll miss it. Even if it sticks around, it's unlikely I'd go back. Obviously, I understand the problem of sites being scarce, but I'm just not sure the place is even viable anymore.

OK, back to cleaning the Mercedes.
