Not a whole lot of context shots, but there are some cool cars. No pics of the NX2000 that somehow rearranged his drivers side front quarter panel and hood with a light pole though. I'm still trying to figure out how he did that :brow:

And I managed to sneak a Tarheel club logo into one of the shots too. :angeldevil:

Their computer was down so they have to manually input the times. My best run was a 47.455; the other STS times that I heard was a high 45 from an turn of the nineties Civic Si, a 47.2 from a Prelude and a 51 from a late model Civic. I didn't get a chance to chat with the Focus STS people out there. The lot was so gritty that it felt like it was under standing water, it forced me to do a lot of early braking and early turn-in and really keep my head up. *Everybody* was pushing bad because after the first run, everbody in grid is bitching and cussing and letting air out of their tires at the same time.

You, rallyboy, would have had a blast.

Tom and I had heard that the lot was really gritty when we were at Laurens on Saturday, so we cancelled the hotel reservation and headed home instead. Glad I didn't make the trip. - AB

Yeah it made sanford look like laurinburg by comparison. But it seemed to suit either me or my car cause I actually did pretty well. I managed a 3rd, out of 10, beating a fully preped DSP Neon. :D

Azenis may push enough water out of the way to get grip in the wet, but they can't do itshay for sand and small pebbles. Zero rubber got put down by the Kumho/Hoosier crowd. Zero. You could rollerskate across the lot in tennis shoes. Little old ladies could slip and brake hips. And I got to do it on two hours sleep too.

Yee. Haw.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I ran my first event on my 225/45/17 Azeni last year up there. It was the weekend before Sanford NCAC, and I wanted to get used to the new tires & break them in. The course we had though was pretty tight - Richard West was going between 1st & 2nd in his 2.5RS. I didn't have the option, since my 1st gear (in the blue RS) won't let me in until I'm just barely creeping. There was also a braking zone just a few feet after a big dip - that was pretty fun.

The next weekend at Sanford felt like the best grip in the world by comparison.

Take one Mustang add a really gritty slippery lot and you have yourself a recipe for fun! Make a course with no slaloms and one long basically straight section in which I can keep second gear floored from around 25 - 65 and you have a course that seems to be pretty well suited for me too considering the 11th overall pax finish. My best in longer than I care to remember....
