I would like to state I am just trying to UNDERSTAND PAX for my own personal benifit.

After viewing the results for some of my friends at the recent autoX in Lauren's, I have a question that has been making me wonder for quite some time:

- Do NOV/TIR/PRO drivers get any additional PAX help/deduction when a full field PAX is done?

My question arises as I can't discern the point of being a NOV then with an ST* car (two of my friends). If you arent allowed to be an ST* NOV for some reason (as it appears to NO PAX help was given to them), then is it just a 'class' for new people to compete against each other? And if it is, were the ST* NOVs given an auto BUMP to the next class to make it 'fair'?

I am just trying to figure this out as I always thought that NOVs got a special *extra* PAX, and that is why EVERYONE didn't like ST* cars getting NOV and ST* PAX bonuses.

It seems silly to class your ST* car NOV when you have no chance in NOV anyway due to too hard of a PAX slashing. You seem better off to just run with your class IFF you care about PAX full field results.

Just a HARMLESS question I would like to know for my own personal knowledge. I just would like to know about these classes and how it affects (or doesnt affect) your full field PAX.

Thanks!

No, there is no additional bump to NOV/TIR/PRO class cars. Not to sound condesending, but here's the whole picture. You have four classes:

NOV, TIR, PRO and Open. These classes are decided ONLY by where the driver wants to compete (in most cases). There is no PAX bump, etc.

The point of NOV is to give true novices a comfortable way into autocrossing without feeling completely overwhelmed. It also provides competition among newcomers and adds extra incentive (as if it was really needed) b/c of the competition. I won't touch the purpose of TIR or PRO b/c I don't wanna start down that road.

If you ONLY care about PAX results, then why be in NOV to begin with? You won't collect points towards the season standings anyways. If you are a novice and want to compare against other novices, you run NOV and play the game as it's played. In the end you can always do the math yourself with an ST* PAX and see how you would have placed that way.

At the end of the day, it doesn't make a big difference. You wan't to compete with PAX? Run TIR. YOu want to run in NOV? Go ahead, but don't worry about your PAX in NOV, b/c it won't matter in the season standings anyways.

I'm mostly rambling at this point and I hope some of it was helpful.

Thanks, and that was not condescending as that was the question I asked. I would rather just ask the 'dumb' question and get my basics correct.

Thanks for the clarification.
