Both days will count towards points event #5. You can come to both days or just Saturday or just Sunday. Your best time from either day counts for the points event so if you come both days, you get twice the looks. The course will be the same both days.

This is a disadvantage for anyone who can't make both days, or for those who want to run a different class for fun on Saturday. Plus, just changing a few elements (or reversing) can make for a good varied course. Just curious, what was the reasoning for the new format this year?
Just my opinion, no big deal; it's still two days of fun autocrossing, and I'll be there.

Your logic can be reversed.
It's an ADvantage to people who can't make both days since they will be definitely in the running for points. Think about people, for instance, who couldn't make Sunday last year. Their Saturday participation, while the money went to a good cause, didn't count for the points event. For those who really care enough about the points and don't want their 2 day attending competitors to have the advantage, well, they'll get their ass out there both days

.
And it is fine for people who want to run multiple classes. Just drive well from the get go on competition day, whichever day it may be. If you truly are competitive enough that you'd think it was an issue, then you'd be running your standard class both days in the first place

.
Plus let's say there is a risk of precipitation one day....bring your AWD street tired Subaru on the wet day and your 400+ whp r comp laden Vette on the dry day

. You are bound to be competitive

.
Anyway, well before our time, THSCC would run this format (2 day, same course, best time counts for points) and it was well received, so we are bringing it back out for our lone 2 day event of the year.
