Fun course, I enjoyed it. It was fun to see some familiar faces from the other clubs show up too. Fast course, 5 runs, early finish. All around, a great day, I just wish my wife hadn't picked up that cone in the slalom on her fast run (although the video is funny stuff).

This event was so good it may have fixed my motor. Didn't have any smoke at all when I pulled it off the trailer at home.

Banging against the rev-limiter as a fix for stuck rings - I'll make a note of it

I loved the course too - I'll have to post a video of the tankslapper I drove through the slalom as I tried to cure myself of excessive LFB-ing.

Thanks to everyone who made it happen!

Hell, maybe if I had still been running the koni's this course would have fixed them too :).

I'm glad a lot of you enjoyed the course. We were hoping for 55+s, but damn this ever confirms the 'subtract 10s from how long you *think* the course will be'. I saw Jeremy go across the finish line with a 43.xxx on the very first run and my jaw dropped :). At least we pulled off 5 runs on a fun, but slightly shorter than intended course.

Also, sorry for the initial finish. I guess testing the course in a G stock car on regular all seasons at 6/10ths was not the right way to determine the speed of the finish.

werd. Best finish, IMO, was a tie between Jim Feinberg's finish cone kapow! and Van Bedell's agricultural spinout...Bonus spectator fun!

39.103 plus one cone. Very rusty. Essentially all cornering is between 1 and 1.4 g with the majority around 1.2 g. This is "low" due to tire age, track surface, and probably my rustiness. Probably only on the rev limiter once just before the far end.

Adventures in curing LFB-itis:

Failed attempt

Success, sorta last run, 43.307 I think - at least I only touched the brakes for the turn-around

Flatfooted from the 2nd to last slalom cone to the finish.....11 hits of the limiter.....might have needed 3rd :).

Here's a run where I felt the line was good expect for the cone marks from the outer cone threading the needle in the first "L box" thing after the lane change. After this, two dnfs, then a final 'safety run.'

As always, thanks to everyone that volunteered and thanks for everyone's patience in group one, it was a little rocky with the timer and the restart after seven runs, but we found a nice groove after that. It's always awesome to have the Triad and CCR entants too.

Great to see you and Kelly yesterday!

I can't claim rustiness for my sloppy driving yesterday (44.3somethingsomething). So I'll blame the loose surface at the start, plus aged tires that were greasy by run 3 and are now completely bald. That run up the hill sure was fun though!

It sure was fun. I had a love affair with the turnaround with that expanding radius exit going off camber leading into the slalom. Something about the A6 grip, nice drift angle as throttle was ramped slowly up to WOT was a bit too much fun, so I ended up way overdriving the entry into the slalom every dang time. :)

Anyway, it was a great course and with some parts of it unlike any I can remember from Danville. I particularly liked the finish as it was a nice challenge to try to thread the needle and use as much throttle as possible. I got it down nicely on 3rd or 4th run, but that run had nasty issues elsewhere including a cone. I hit the rev limiter in 2nd for a good while (which I don't like doing on this S62 -- worrying about rod bearings) which is ~68-69mph.

Me too. I have NEVER done that before in decades of autocrossing.

The interim results had me thinking that one run was clean. The worst part is that even without the cone my best run was something like 13th in PAX. :(
