Not sure whether to post this in the lounge or here, but bear with me. A lot of folks have been giving me grief about beating the same old horse year after year. So, I'm pleased to announce that tonight I took delivery of a brand new 2005 Mustang GT. (I don't want to tell you the hoops I had to go through in order to get on the list for one of the first ones...but let's just say that heading up our SVT autocross effort 2 years ago did not hurt :)) I had hoped to get one in the neat "Redfire" color, but ended up going with my 2nd choice, Windveil Blue. Very close to the color of my first car (a '66 Falcon).

It is SWEET! 300HP, 52/48 weight distribution, 18x9 wheels... and it goes like stink! I'll probably keep autocrossing my old car for a few more events until the new one is properly broken in, but then Katie, bar the door!

Hey I got a new car today too! Sold the house and bought a McLaren F1. It's SWEET! Want to drag? I just can't figure out how to get the baby seat in it.

Hahahhahhahha.

In a way I'm surprised that Art cracked the seal on that tight wallet of his but somehow I knew that if any car could convince him to do so it would be the retro cool 05.

Whitney the F1 is a 3 seater right? Kendra to the right, Nathan to the left, the perfect family car. Heck that thing probably comes with a carbon kelver custom fitted baby seat.

I did check the date of the post 4/1 @ 11:59 PM...could it be a prank? Say it is not so.

Hey Art,

So . . . you managed to get a pre production 2005 Mustang, eh? Hope it isn't too beat up by the engineers and/or road testers. Too bad you couldn't hold out until actual production starts this summer/fall. :D

Dick

Dick, What do you mean pre-production? This is a regular production car. I'm looking at the window sticker right now......

AAAAIIIIIIIEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!

What the? 2004? The @$^&# salesman told me it was a 2005!

Of course I was lying!

I did inquire about the release date of the 2005 model earlier this week. The guy at the sales manager's desk at U Ford said that they would start taking orders in June, and "Job 1" is Sept 7. Makes me wonder why all the promotional fuss in January. They'll have to do it all over in July to get everybody's attention again.

Art,

The fuss in January is because that is when the auto shows are held.

Are you actually serious about getting one? They certainly look good (saw one at the Raleigh auto show) and will have plenty of go and stop. Maybe by the time they get the bugs worked out I'll be in a position to get a red one. :D
