No...the motor is destroyed. It needs LS7 power now! :)

Oooh I see the evil OptiCrap device....

How long did it take to pull. In total hours of actual work?
Isn't that the hot rod Rippie stroker motor?

No, no LS7 goodness, those cost significantly more than the car is worth. Though it won't have 7.0L and 515hp it will have 6.3L and hopefully ~420hp, with a shiteload of torque.

I'm almost embarrassed to admit, but I'd say 40+ man-hours. I do work slowly, but didn't expected it to take that long. Going back in is almost guaranteed to be worse. :( No the motor that was in it is not a stroker, just Doug Rippie top-end stuff. It will be going back in as a stroker however.

If you want to feel better Andrew's car still has his broke motor in it and his "new" motor is sitting on a tire in my garage needing new seals.

To answer your earlier question James, no I haven't opened it up yet, got it on the engine stand and started taking it apart before I ran out of time. This weekend I will be taking it apart. I just got off the phone with the shop and with a much lighter wallet, I now have a built 383 stroker short block on the way. Hopefully they can get it done and shipped to me sooner than the 4-5 weeks he estimates, otherwise I'm gonna need a co-drive at the first event.

What is your status on your swap? If it makes you feel any better, I've been involved with a Miata motor swap and it is a helluva lot easier than that hateful beast above. If you have all your needed parts now, you can realistically do the swap between now and the first event pretty easily assuming family duties don't get in the way too much. Hope everything goes well for you as well.

Yeah, I know Steve, maybe someday I'll grow up and put on my big boy pants and get out on track. Being a "track head" isn't really conducive to my increasingly unrealistic hope of retiring before I'm 75 however.

I am GMing two Sanford events this year and hopefully can team up with some ECs willing to do a "drag race" finish. Sorry in advance Miata folks.
