Yeah, I suppose if I took the rest of the week off it would be possible, not really though, even if I got it all back together I still need to break it in and get a dyno tune. I'll be doing great if I can even have it at the June event. That's probably not going to happen either since tornado/tree clean-up work is still in progress.

The trees will still be there when the car is running. 8) Not like they are gonna fall a second time.

Well, the neighbor is getting a bit ansy about his back yard where my tree debris is currently lying. Of course legally clean-up is his responsibility and he knows that, but I want the firewood/mulch.

So wont the engine... and the longer it sits on the pallet, the longer it stays non-busted. ::ducks for cover::

joking aside, what happened to the old engine? did it just grow old?

Glad to see it finally showed up. Was pretty worried that you'd have to fight with the builder/CC company to get your money back.

Actually the old engine only had 55K miles on it. It was an over-rev last fall that broke a bunch of valve springs, I guess you could argue that age was a factor there potentially since they have been in there since before some of our members were born. I think the bottom end is likely fine, I just wanted to do a 383.

Well, lets just hope it is all that it is supposed to be, they certainly have spent enough time on it.

Well, absurdly overdue, I'm actually finally ready to drop this thing back into the engine bay and hopefully try to fire it up tomorrow. Anyone who might have some free time tomorrow afternoon a second set of hands would really come in handy?

Yeah, seeing it run was pretty sweet, unfortunately its not all good news as the belt popped off after about 15 minutes of running. The harmonic balancer and crank hub which have been a big pain in this project are the culprit and may require removing the engine again. But it least it ran and didn't make any bad noises, in fact quite the opposite. :D

My favorite part is when the camera shook when you rev'd it.
