Do you have to be a full SCCA member to do a tour event? or do they have a temp weekend membership like regular SCCA events (ie with CCR)?

I believe they still have the weekend only memberships, but don't get things like the Sportscar magazine and other "perks" if you call them that. If you plan on doing more than one event though, it makes sense to get a year long membership for $85.

The question I have about the weekend membership is how you register for the event, but with the change to MotorsportReg vs. the SCCA's registration site, that may not matter anymore. - AB

Yeah, I'm thinking of doing only 1 event (Dixie) if even that, so I don't want to spend $85 just to spend $94 once. 2012, I might be on race rubber and join and do a few events (particularly if they come to zMax :) ).

Hard to say. None of the contingencies (except maybe for Kumho) are run through the SCCA, so if the results meet the criteria, the company isn't checking with the SCCA if you are a member. - AB

My bet is that won't happen, mainly because the CCR folks couldn't pull it off. The other issue is that ZMax requires a March date (same is true for Dixie, as it is a dragway and a 5/8 mile circle track). - AB

If some of you guys weren't aware, it looks like they added a Tour in Atlanta on Mother's Day weekend in May. It will be at AMS and is the closest National event we have with DC being out this year. The Atlanta region always puts on a great show and I know a place that makes a *monster* margarita. :)

As a person who was with Jim and Spratte when this was discovered, I can tell you that it is something special :) - AB

Yea, if by special you mean that "death by margarita" is a distinct possibility!

But seriously, this is the place that kicked off all the Monster Margarita talk from years ago. The sheer number of crazy stories from the last Tour/DoubleX back-to-back weekend was ridiculous. And that's the stuff I remember!

Definitely looking forward to this one!

John and I are planning on the "jersey" stop. This Atlanta sounds so temping to me. The moms in my life would have to be ok as it is my BIRTHDAY this year so. still working on it.

You mean like that drunk voicemail that I got in the middle of the night from a certain driver of the white Type R.

Cool deal.

My schedule for this year will be:

Arkansas ProSolo (STI)
Jersey ProSolo (STI)
Oscoda ProSolo (STI)
Atlanta Tour (STR MR2)
Toledo Tour (STR MR2)
ProSolo Finale (STI)
Tour Finale (STR MR2 or C6 Corvette if the MR2 blows)

May will be a busy month too, as I am going to New Orleans to play in two World Series of Poker events in on 5/14 and 5/16. - AB

Spratte? Yea, he is a trouble maker! :D

I have this crazy notion to do Dixie -> Houston -> Mineral Wells. That is, run Dixie, immediately head for Houston afterwards and continue on through to Mineral Wells eventually. Then head home.

All I need is my laptop to work and if I can keep the stupid Type R from being stolen on the road, it could be fun. And one of those things I'd probably never do again. Ever. :)

Sleep in the car, that will keep anyone from wanting it.
