Lesson 1- What brake pedal? I don't need no stinkin' brake pedal!

This: Driving a N/A Miata on the 255s it was all a matter of minimizing any amount of lifting let alone braking. I really wish Hoosier would start making something bigger than 335 as I'm hopefully soon to have 400+ wtq and I'm thinking 335 may soon prove to be inadequate.

I think you're going to need to learn how to manage the loud pedal :) - AB

It's Andrew's old 186k mile 1996 block. It made some kind of terrible noise at high RPM which we thought was from the head. Hopefully it wasn't something with the bottom end.

That said my motor is a SSM motor now, not in the good way though since the 1996 pistons are significantly lower compression, if anyone is bothered by this blatant cheating I'll class myself SSM till I can find a matching block for the head. This was the only way I'd be able to get the car back together in time for this weekend.

Doesn't bother me. If that means I don't have to put a timing belt on this engine in this configuration and then another one on when you get a new block, that's A-OK with me ;).

I'm actually re-using my timing belt. I think it has all of a thousand miles on it.

Also the motor may be a 1994, I forget what year Andrew's car is now. That said if anyone needs Miata motor parts I have a bunch of extras.

It's a 94 (the most desirable of years).

I'm really glad that Tarheel isn't all anal about the SCCA rulebook. It should be a good year.

I for one am thoroughly offended that you would even think of cheating in such a blatant manner James. As an officer of the club and GM of this weekends event I'm gonna have to demand that you run in your proper class regardless of how your competitors feel. I just could not in good conscience let you take advantage of your competition in such an deceitful way.

Looks like I might as well go 2.0L on my 2001 block and turbo the Miata to ~300WHP then :)
