ya the megasquirt vvt box has me pondering somethign different like AEM or trying to find a used hydra. Because last I heard it was still in several cars to test reliability and not sure when it is going to be released.

I already gave up on being street legal with this car.

My goal is a car that can be reliably tracked at 200WHP, unless that approaches infinity dollars. There are turbo cars out there that can do 300+ reliably on track, but they all have spent more then I care to. Any current work I do I'm keeping the 200WHP number in mind so I don't have to do things twice.

I still have a ton more research to do, but the current top contender is one of the Rotrex blowers. The car already runs off Megasquirt so I'm good for an EMS. Still waiting for the box to control the VVT on the car that DIYautotune is putting out. Hopefully it'll be available in time to start the season next year with the VVT working and tuned.

talk to Butler. if he hadn't been constantly Finkering with the motor it would have lasted much longer no doubt. he was putting about 200 to the ground.

there is prob more time invested in testing and retesting different ideas just to loose at nationals. I think he has been in second place for like the last 3-4 years. But he is a great person(online) and will answer most any question asked!

I've heard that Bill is in the low 5 figures on his car. I haven't seen the C&D article but there was also a GRM article.

Just saw this when looking for the GRM article. Looks like they took that off their website and replaced it with a R&T article.

I'd buy the shit out of one of those SEMA NC Miatas.

Agreed. For a car that he probably couldn't sell for $20k, likely less.

I have heard numbers of $9k for shocks and $30k in the motor. In my personal opinion there is no national championship worth that. - AB

aaron I dont even think that accounts for the countless dyno trips, brake styles, intake set ups(including itbs with different length runners).

I bet he is even afraid to think of what he has put into the car. He said this year if he won nationals he would sell the car but he didnt so not sure if he will be back next year in the same car or not.

I disagree! Spending six figures on a Porsche 911 GT2 and winning ASP (with it basically stock) would be "worth it."

Oh, shit, you still have a car WORTH six figures after you're done. Nevermind.
