Hell yeah. Unless there's a TIR class for the NCAC.

Nah, running TIR at a championship event is just silly.

Um, no. That's silly too. Unless they let me run ST-X-TIR with a Civic. Or if they let me run my road race ITR Integra in TIR: ITR-X-TIR?

See, it just gets too complicated. And silly. Plain 'ole DS-TIR it will be. From what I've heard, there are a lot of people fed up with the current tire situation in the auto-x world. Besides myself, I know of *many* others that will be making the same move for local events. It should be fun! :D

Just make sure you beat the blue WRX, the Silver MCS or the silver s2000......remember the guy in the silver WRX brought Jinx those tires for you ;).

Count us in too. My tire budget is nil. After NCAC my 710's will be shot. TIR for me too.

I'm wondering what the best tire is for TIR. . .
Star Specs?

Or maybe we could have an Old TIR Class (OTIR) for people who want to run Azenis.

That was supposed to be sarcastic...&(^#*& emoticons. The more inTIR the merrier, I say. If I can get the foodies (James and Maria) to spend more time prepping food than their cars we may have a TIR class hospitality tent!

Besides, I'm tired of backing out the Rcomp vs street tire modifier to see how much more better I have to be.

I'll be on the new hotness ST* tire. What is that? You'll have to show up to find out! :)

I was thinking more along the lines of leaving everybody using 200+ treadwear tires in TIR and then create a new class for 140-200 treadwear users. I even have a name: TIR-Extreme or TIRE for short. :P

I know. My response was sarcastic too. Well, everything except the part about wanting to run ITR-X-TIR. :?

And no foodies in my TIR class. Those people will have to find a new class. I hear X is open... :D

ST* might be 180 treadwear and up next year so the RS3s will be illegal (and will probably get restamped to 180 shortly thereafter) :).

Time to make the regular classes 140 treadwear and run a PAX R-comp class for everyone else.

Riiiiiight. Do you want to buy some land? :D

Either way, I wont be on RS3's or any other 140 treadwear tires.

What's this I hear about people jumping ship to TIR class? After looking at the damage to the budget after this past season, TIR sounds like a plan!!!! Momma wants a new house more than she wants 2 new pairs of Hoosiers!

Following up on my original post - after several failed attempts I finally spoke with Jeff at Hoosier today. He was very interested in hearing about my A6 experience and, after hearing the particulars, was more than fair in offering a discounted replacement set. Gotta agree with Keith V - the folks at Hoosier offer exceptional customer service. (Now if they can just come up with a way to get A6's to hold up better on camber challenged cars.)

Awesome Keith. They did something similar when the mislabled a single tire of 4 at Blytheville ProSolo and I luckily was able to buy 4 used tires to run on.

For the RX-8 we ran pressures in the high 30's on Kumhos, so I would probably start in the low 40's on Hoosiers. - AB

Years back when I talked with Jeff et al at Hoosier, they told me to run 50 psi up front or more if I needed it to help the situation. I don't think even higher pressure like that helps however since it just creates an even higher stress concentration on the now smaller area of that diagonal shoulder. I did try it though (think we tried as much as 52psi), and I could tell nothing different other than loss of grip, especially in braking.

Keith, what are you doing for NCAC, assuming you're going? I still have BFG R1, 245/40-18, mounted on SSR wheels if you want to borrow them. They're a couple of years old and all, so no great offer, but you're welcome to use them.

That's a very nice offer, Chuck - thank you very much, but I should be okay for NCAC. I had an old used set of V710s in storage, just got them mounted late last week.
