These discussions about what can make T&S easier are a good thing. I'm bummed I missed the event (Lburg is my favorite site!).
The best change we started trying last year, which we really need to continue to do, is the "grid audit". The worker coordinator gives the grid worker a list of cars by class and the grid worker verifies that the car is marked properly for the driver before he/she is released to the start line. (Best way is to look up the car number on the sheet, find the person's name, and have a conversation: "Bob?" "Yes?" "Go ahead!") If anything is wrong, it needs to be fixed before they can go to the start line, no exceptions.
Did this happen at Lburg? If not, it should become policy
We have a "No Shoepolish" rule now because a lot of people have bad handwriting and/or tiny windows. It does works fine in some cases.
I still think the paper number idea seems to fix the most problems with the least hassles for the club. It is enough of a pain in the arse for people to do that they want to get magnetics ASAP. Anoyone who loses paint because of the tape - sorry, no sympathy here. I will loan you the $10 for you to go get or make your own.
I can make magnetics class and numbers at home in an hour for $10 easy. Ask me how.
