For those of you looking for an opportunity to experience more "Nationals" like cornering speeds Triad has a CrossTrial event this Saturday at Danville. Info posted on their web site. Speeds are likely to be in the 50 to 70 range. Entry limit is 40. Currently (Saturday evening 9/11) they are at 25. Normal autocross the next day.

Will they have more than the usual runs on Saturday since the limit is 40 drivers?

The info states each run is two continuous laps and talks about lots of "track time". Given the size of the site, sounds like lots of runs.

You'll get plenty of seat time. I went to one of these a while back, and got 9 runs, each one was 2 laps a piece. Granted there was threat of rain (that never came) so there were only 18 drivers, but you get the idea.

So is this something our insurance would allow us to do?

One or more posts on the Triad forums indicated that they keep the speeds at about 70 max as I recall so that shouldn't be a problem. i.e. normal autox limits. I think the only real change is raising the minimum speeds (i.e. no first gear "pin turns" )

Two flying laps, of course, is what we do at Greenville and used to do at Morrisville.

It appears the runs are still one car at a time with overlap at the end of the second lap.
