I'm about to enter into an interesting arrangement when I get to run some brandy new 255/40/13 A6's on a decently prepped CSP Miata.

To set an equitable price, I need a rough estimation on how many runs to expect out of them. We're talking all the way from stickers to the cord.

60 runs? 80 runs?

Yes, I know this is an unfair questions because there are WAY too many variables that affect the life of a tire like this. Now...knowing that, give me your best approximation, preferably based on hand on experience. :D

Depends on the weight of the car. For a well prepped car that's way down on weight, you might go 100-120 runs before cord (but the last half their life will kind of suck, especially the last third). For a porker, well, it might only be 80. Also depends on how hot it is at most of your events, plus whether or not the car is overdriven much. Plowing a pushy car or drifting a loose one will eat rubber fast.

We'd get 80 - 90 runs from our C Stock 1999 Miata. And, we seem to get around 80 runs from Karl's S2000. Both cars wear tires fairly evenly, but they did need to be flipped. While Hoosiers certainly slow down with age, we've found the overall grip from the Hoosiers is still pretty decent, even near the end of their life. They seem to keep their stick better than Kumhos.

This car weighs ~2200lbs which I suppose in the CSP world is considered portly. It has lots of camber and not a lot of toe. I got 100 good runs out of 225/45/15 A6s running supercharged.

Exactly right on the S2000's wear rate. For whatever it's worth: approx. 2 deg. of negative camber in the front, along with approx. 5 degrees of caster. The car weighs 2760 empty with a full tank of gas. 245/275 stagger. Usually, the fronts cord first, although we've corded a set of rears first too. Flipping the fronts is critical. I made the mistake of putting that off earlier in the year, and showed up to a Sanford event with a whisper of cord showing on the fronts, totally unaware. I felt like an idiot.

I think you should still plan on 100 on this car. Even if they aren't to cord, you're gonna be hating them at that point SO much that it's time. :) I know it's more tire, but that just lets you push it harder, too.

Thanks guys. EXACTLY the feedback I'm looking for. Yes, these are going on Les's Miata for a short time...and then migrating to another THSCC Miata afterwards.

I'll go with an 80 run amortization schedule.
