What about the novices??

Typically they haven't allowed it. Novice's can't ride with novices and anyone else riding with them could give them an advantage of seeing the course before they make their runs.

So how about have novices go in their own group (rather than running with class) and make sure it is NOT the first group so those who have already made their runs in group 1 can ride with the novices in the later groups.

Running the novices as a group doesn't work well because they all work the course together. Doesn't allow each novice to work with an experienced driver. Also, novice is a class competing in the NCAC.

And checking to make sure all riders have finished their runs would be difficult to manage.

Depending on the size of the novices class, you put them in with another large (experienced) class in the last heat. That way they can work with a veteran crew in Heat 2 and have a ton of people available for ride alongs for help. - AB

Michael (Cheez) will be there on Saturday, so I'll volunteer him for this job.

How about Sunday? We need a photographer for the trophy ceremony since we have the special guest presenters.

I can bring my digital SLR and do this for Sunday's work if needed. - AB

I am only running on Sunday which is our points event so I can't really count for NCAC totals anyway so it would be good if maybe there are others like me who can help out the novices.

I'm shooting video this year for the THSCC end of year thing, and with two events left I've got a bunch of stuff to get so if you're looking for traditional shots of cars, etc. You'll definitely need someone else to grab it.

Typically plenty of people will be taking pictures during this type of award ceremony. :D

Maybe an ITR in DS.

True, I just wanted to make sure there was someone with a good camera and decent photography skills dedicated to this, I guess Aaron will have to suffice though.

I'd also like to offer the opportunity to have photos taken with ladies, car, and driver after the ceremony for those interested.

I've got a good eye  I'm sure I'll be able to get some trophy pictures that will make everyone "proud" - AB

That would be awesome. I vote for onsight camping.

If the site would allow it I would def volunteer to bring my grill on the trailer, set up camp and keep an eye on everybody's stuff. Anybody know if we have ever been able to do this?

Can we get an answer to John's question. I'm thinking about camping out on Saturday night. Would the Sanford people be ok with this?

Karl did get an answer for me, he called me late last night. He called Sanford and the person in charge said people have camped in the past. He prefers no camping but "if" you did camp when he left and locked the gate there would be no coming/going at all allowed. Which could easily be by 6 I could see. With that knowledge I felt it was prob in the clubs best interest for me not to camp. Not that I am worried about leaving a mess or whatnot, but more so their isn't that added strain/worry from the site as I sure wouldn't want to inadvertaintly cause us to loose the site or anything.

John, thanks for understanding.

As we've mentioned before, 2 of the club's most important overall "considerations", generally speaking, are site availability and insurability/liability protection. While the Sanford site hasn't come out and said No Camping, they are clearly not fond of the idea. Further, our insurance, which is in place to protect the site and club, requires that we have officers on site at all times.

Camping on our sites is a gray area, at best, on both of these fronts. For these reasons, we are taking the position to not allow camping.

That said, there must be some public campgrounds nearby?
