It's heavy. Also - I don't know where they put the V6 model. When I speak of GS Genesis, I'm thinking of the 2.0T.

The V6 is in FS...3389 lbs 306hp/260ish Tq--less than FS Mustang in all categories, but with a better rear suspension.

Like Karl said, it's heavy. It's also camber limited and down on over 100 hp to the '11 Mustang GT. - AB

well, all FS cars are heavy, right? by comparison with other FS cars the Genesis is relatively light (although for GS it's very heavy, no disagreement there). Is the 2011 Mustang GT definitely an FS car? If so, that could be a game-breaker for all existing FStockers....

Steve,

Both the 2011 GT and V-6 are currently FS. However, the jury is still out regarding whether the lower/stiffer suspension and less weight of the 2007/2008 Shelby makes up for the HP difference compared to the 5.0. I don't know how often a Shelby is traction limited on "big event courses".

FYI, Sam Strano ran his new GT at Peru on day one and had the power go away on later runs. Doesn't know why yet. Ran the Shelby on day two and also apparently ran it at the Finger Lake Tour last weekend.

Dick (who wants a 5.0 GT automatic for a daily driver . . . but also wants a "travel autocross budget")

Thanks, Dick...I just read some of the mega thread on SCCAforums.com about that. Hard to believe it would be traction limited on Hoosiers, but then again 412 HP and I are complete strangers. Thanks for the perspective.

Looks like 2011 V6 Mustang owners now have something in common with 2008-10 WRX owners...complete irrelevance.

I can roast the 325's on the rear of the C6 on good concrete at 60 mph in 2nd gear, and that's more tire than a GT can use and only has about 25 more hp. Hoosiers stick well, but they aren't magical :)

Ask Donnie and others in BS at DC. My co-driver and I were roasting the 295's coming out of the bottom of the "circle" on the STi. Hoosiers can't even can't contain a car with 3 LSD's  - AB

Are the S197 GT's traction limited on Hoosiers? I cannot imagine NOT being traction limited with even the Shelby based on what my formula car is like (R tire experience is too out of date for me since the last R tires I ran were Kumho VictoRacers on Miles Beams C4 Vette and it was traction limited). I normally am somewhat traction limited even with fresh slicks on the formula car (1 HP per 10 lbs). This year's Hoosiers had much more start line grip on a HOT day at VMP but that might have been the hot pavement allowing the tires to actually be at operating temp. Due to fuel feed issues I didn't get to run Greenville with it's sealed surface.

Not really. My GT weighs in at 3380 with Art's 285 Hoosiers on it last year. The Hyundai is a real pig.

As far as traction, launching anything more than ~3500 rpms gives me wheel spin with my 285 V710s. On course I can't light up the rear unless I'm turning and applying a good bit of throttle though.

How much camber can the genesis get while remaining stock legal?

quoted from letter:

September 2009

Dear Genesis Coupe R-Spec Owner:

Congratulations on purchasing the Genesis coupe R-spec model by Hyundai!
The R-Spec is intended to combine exceptionally low cost and maximum tuning
flexibility to enthusiasts like you.

As you consider modifications to your R-Spec model, Hyundai has provided the
Camber Adjusting Bolt Kit to allow you to increase the negative front wheel
camber on your R-Spec. Installation of this kit is optional and not recommended
for daily street use, but may be installed at your discretion for "off-highway" use.

Note: The camber Adjusting Bolt Kit MUST be professionally adjusted
back to the factory specs of -0.5 degrees +/- 0.5 degree prior to street use
of any kind. Installation of the kit will void your Tire Manufacturer's
warranty. Vehicle and powertrain damage caused by high performance
driving will not be covered under Hyundai warranties

Drive safely and enjoy your new R-Spec to its fullest.

Sincerely,

Hyundai Motor America

Not much... They actually come with camber bolts that aren't stock legal yet, IIRC...

Aaron - curious how you arrived at C6 having 25 HP more than a 2011 GT. Isn't the C6 @ 400HP and GT @ 412 HP?

I thought it depended on year, but later non-z06 C6s had 43X hp.

Like Michael said, the LS3's in the '08+ Vettes were rated at 430hp. If it was delivered with the Borla exhaust like Bryan's, it's 438hp. It's a beast :) - AB

Ah, I did not know that. A beast, indeed.
