We'll see. I haven't put a mile on it since the DC ProSolo, mainly because I don't want to put a ton of miles on it since I think the engine will grenade... I now have a full 2100 miles on it. While it's a fun car, but gets piss poor mileage and really isn't a joy to drive on the streets. It does attract a lot of attention too from all of the ricers...

I think I will do another year of Pro's in it and see how I feel then after getting the setup right. You still want to bring it to Nats? - AB

I would guess the optimal AX car would use the 3.55s (same price as the 3.73 option ~($395)), and hard to say on the Brembo's since I beleive that gets you a 9.5" wide wheel at the expense of 19" tires. I can't remember if the non-brembo cars are using 8.5 or 9" these days.

In either case the car seems like a real bargain and I would jump on it if I could.

Michael,

I did a gearing/mph spreadsheet and assuming you would want mid 60's in second, 3:31's seemed more appropriate . . . but I didn't use 19 inch Hoosier OD's for the tires (The Brembo package comes with 19's). I assumed 18's but I guessed on the size.

Since I would get an automatic for daily driving it is a non issue other than "this is my hobby and I cannot help but be interested".

What are the odds the car won't be traction limited in second almost all the time in any case . . . especially on THSCC sites?

Don't change your own plans because of me, but if it's available I may do it, yeah.

You need a mustang then. The mustang is actually a fantastic GT car, and I enjoy driving it a lot on the street. After 34,XXX miles so far I will say the car has been solid and hasn't needed anything. The AC seems a touch on the weak side, but that seems to be the norm from most folks I talk to. I haven't had to take it back to the dealership yet. Of course I can't say how good the 5.0 will be, but the 4.6 has been great. The sound give me wood everyday, and most honda bois now leave me alone.

Most of the 18" Rs available seem to effect gearing significantly. If you did use the available tires sizes you may find 3.31s are even more advantageous (and would save you $395). The 3.55 comment was for a target of near 60 or just above. That being said as much as I use the car on the street and how little interest I have in doing a nationals event at this point in my life (kids) I would have to get the 3.73s.

James, how does the TPS position enter the equation, because when you shift (generally :) ), you are off the throttle? Or if the logic what the TPS position was at the time the clutch was depressed?

When you're in first the ECU constantly checks TPS/speed to see if the conditions are right for skip shift. So, if you are going over ~16mph and aren't on the throttle much it locks out 2nd/3rd till you either get on the throttle harder or shift. There is a dash light that pops to let you know 2nd/3rd are currently blocked out.

VVV Do my 2 4cyls balance out the LS2? VVV

In the C5 Vettes you can bypass the skip shift with a dongle I think

I thought Corvette ownership required a lack of dongle? Is only a small one needed?

The more HP you have the closer you get to having an innie.

My 2000 Camaro had that skip shift feature and it drove me crazy. SLP sold a skip shift eliminator that plugged in inline to a solenoid on the side of the transmission. I am certain some after market company will develop and sell one for these newer cars. Mine only cost $29.00. It is basically a resistor.
The skip shift feature only harassed me under very modest acceleration. Launch at 5,000 rpms and power shift into 2nd and you will have no problems.

as stated the skip shift can be negated with Rob's Dingle Thingy. it can also be programmed entirely out on the C5 Z06. when i had CAM do a tune that was one of the benefits.

1st to 2nd blocked out when puttering. it was however aggravating when making a slow turn at an intersection. if you can find a way to get rid of it, do it.

You can also pull the solenoid out, and replace it with an odd Oil Drain Plug from an old dodge.
