can i bring the civic to this said drift event?

Sure, but trying to drift a FWD car is challenge to say the least. Just making a car slide sideways (e-brake turns for example) doesn't qualify as 'drifting'.

A little videofrom this past weekend's Hyperfest Drift Competition.

We watched qualifying Friday and were able to catch the finals after our race. I was pretty impressed with the skills these guys had. the whole lead/follow thing was neat.

Oh, forget about little front wheel drive cars...2/3 of the cars were LS powered!

I've been to two of these events which were held on Patriot Course at VIR. It didn't take long to figure out who knew what they were doing and who didn't. I'd say out of the 25 or so cars, about 3 knew what they were doing and all three were sponsored. Two of them could do the entire course in tandem, no problem.

I also learned that unless the car had enough power to break the rear wheels loose at will...forget it.

This stuff ain't as easy as some people think and it takes a lot of skill to be good at it.

With all the pissy threads on here this week, I'm sure that the autocross is going to be a blast!

i'm counting on that Todd.

What I don't get Steve is that I "think" you are mostly joking, but then again I am not sure. My family and I enjoy watching TV shows like Americas Funniest Videos. You get a chance to be an outside observer and watch other people get kicked in the crotch or face plant when trying to jump their bicycle over a homemade ramp. But it quits being funny when it happens to me ("me" being the entire club which you are part of if you haven't figured that out. ;)

I am not trying to over dramatize what is going on here, but I really don't find much humor in the fact that people are bummed out about stuff like this thread. I really DO hope that everyone has a good weekend at the event. Frankly maybe everyone having a good time is what is needed.

oh so now i'm the bad guy? OK Richard, i'm poking the bear because i can. do i want to see this club that has been around for almost 50 years implode? no i don't. i enjoy the people i know from joining this club.

cones are evil, they make people emotional. one might say irrational. i think we see that right here. hell, i looked up the Pro-Solo Rules the other day and realized that tome is 337 pages. Whaaaaa? that would make anyone a little nutty.

but at the end of the day it matters not to me how anyone has a good time behind the wheel of their automobile.

Jason, i will refrain. i'm sorry if i have insulted anyone that might be overly sensitive. you know like those autocross types.

OK maybe i could try harder. but it's just a hobby for most of us, people; not life or death here.

and i plan to be in G-Vegas on Sunday. so if you must tell me what an ass i am, please feel free.

I can think of many reasons to call Steve an ass, but I like him anyway!

Can we put the confederate flags back on the THSCC logo?

Well I didn't think I would chime in, but then I saw this video.

If I could bring this out on RallyX setup days I might chair more.
Perhaps they would like to host an event?

That looked like a golf course. Maybe we could get a golf course to let us use one of their fairways for a rallycross? Probably not, huh?

I'm sure they wouldn't mind. Just tell 'em we are "aerating" the fairway

I am definitely AGAINST "vetting" event chairs. Let anyone volunteer. I was just saying that if you let them have free reign to do with a site what they want on setup day, you unfortunately have to. If some noob in a Viper volunteers to chair an event so that he can have his playtime at Laurinburg and run the Maxton mile, we're in trouble.

Brice, sorry I was rude. I think this vetting process happens naturally. If someone wants to volunteer and doesn't have much experience, then they get paired with someone more experienced. If someone is suspected to be reckless, then I'm guessing they wouldn't be allowed to chair. This is as it should be.

I don't know about that. Most of the time when we have had a pre-running "off" it has been the Event VP

Seems I do remember something about a president (RH) who almost totaled my Camaro into the building here in Greenville taking a "test" run. Good point.
