The truck SCCA uses to tow the timing trailer to national events was stolen in Western VA last nite. The trailer was also broken into and all the laptops stolen. Ian Baker picked up the trailer today and is towing it to FedX field for next weekend's DC Prosolo. I can't remember much about the truck, but I believe it was a white Ford dually with KS plates. I don't remember it having much SCCA markings on it, but I haven't seen it since Lincoln last year. I hope they had off site backups for the custom PS timing software.

from F-B:

"STOLEN : white crewcab dually F350 P/U last night (6/8) in Manassas, VA! It has Kansas tags and SCCA stickers on the side windows. Contact Ian Baker
(703-568-1095) or Howard Duncan (hduncan@scca.com) if you see it
(after contacting the police, of course!)."

The info I saw from SCCA said it was stolen in Western VA. I guess Manassas is west of DC (by a handful of miles anyhow) If you're from Kansas. I'm a bit surprised they didn't have better security on it, an alarm system with pager notification and/or a heavy chain and padlock would have made it a far more difficult target. We weave a couple heavy locked steel cables thru the wheels and suspension if we park the trailer unhitched from the truck and add a tongue hitch lock. Anything can be defeated eventually, the idea is to make your sh** more work to steal that someone elses, and therefore less appealing a target.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.
