This was a really awesome and well-run event! Thanks to everyone involved for making it happen!

I especially enjoyed the masochistic lane change transition into the thread the needle followed by the C box with the totally unconventional exit. That was an extremely tricky group of elements to string together. Since the element after the C box was almost a straight shot as the crow flies from the entry line into the C box, it blended in visually with the back wall of the C box. "Look ahead" couldn't even begin to cover it. You just had to memorize the layout. I think that's why so many people were getting lost there.

Anyway, here's a video of my fastest run yesterday: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XEcLYOlDtI

Rodney, I'm going to send your hand-shuffling video to my dad. He could never manage to keep both hands on the wheel during the novice school. One was always drifting down to the shifter. I don't think I have any suggestions though. Not that you want to hear any from me anyway... helloooo conflict of interest :)
Yeah Rodney, I think you need to lift off the throttle in the sweepers, it'll make you faster.

If he keeps putting his "Free" hand back on the shifter have Rodney lightly rub his had as he drives. He will move it back on the wheel immediately

and now for something completely different.....

This shot has the camera attached to inside of the passenger side window. I was always curious about my hand work. You never really have a chance to see it while you're on course. I thought it was interesting to watch the shuffling.

any comments? Not sure what I should change if anything.

I find it interesting that you keep both hands near the top of the wheel at the start. Not wrong. I thing different people have different leverage points and different steering ratios.

It is amazing how many novices though start out with one hand on the wheel one on the shifter, or one hand on the wheel and one out the window  . the other action I see alot is grabbing the wheel up at 12 but underhanded.

I find nothing wrong with this practice  then again... im sure were not talking about the over grown steering wheel I have in my truck... and the lazyness I have while driving on the street.

(seriusly... I have never gotten lost or tangled up while driving in a performance maner, but I know its bad and think I have done a great job of breaking the habit while driving the miata... on track)

Yeah, I saw somebody doing that on Sunday.

That's one of the first things I tell my students to stop doing. Helps on the street, too, as you lower your chances of having your arm shattered unexpectedly by an airbag.
