Kudos to those that ran the event and setup the course. The course was challenging and fun. I hope the weather held out for those in the 3rd heat. - AB

It did! Didn't start raining until the trophies. Perfect timing!

BTW - Nice driving today Aaron!

I thought the course was great. Good job Jason, Rob, and anyone else involved with the setup this weekend!

FS looks to be a hoot again this year. Despite keeping a secret on our 285 v710s, Art shows up and still whips us. My first time on brand new R comps and I still can't win. Nice driving Art! :furious:

Very fun course, a couple elements really tested my courage. "Stay in the gas" I had to keep telling myself.

I've never been so nervous watching Lee take his last two runs knowing that I couldn't do anything to respond. When he ran a 48.3 on his 3rd run, I thought for sure I was done for (and I would have been right had his last run been clean). I hope that whoever saw my embarassing little dance when he clipped the cone on his last run enjoyed it.

I had a blast thanks to everyone that put it on. It was very interesting having to trust my "rust bucket" at several places.

Thanks again.

Thanks everybody for helping make our first points event a success! There was a lot of "new stuff" going on at this one, so we appreciate your patience while we worked through the occasional hiccup. I think part of that was due to the low turnout for this one - we often found ourselves a bit short handed. Thank you to everybody who pitched in to work an extra shift or otherwise help make the event a success.

Glad to hear on the rain and thanks for the kudos, but I think I left a lot on the table. It was the first time autocrossing since August '09. I'm betting I'll run Danville in a couple of weeks to shake more rust off prior to the Lincoln ProSolo.

It was really good to see a lot of THSCC members I haven't seen in a while and meet some new people. - AB

Thanks to everyone who helped put on the event. It was very fun and the course was a genuine blast. I can't remember seeing a better complete course at Laurinburg which combined most of the elements of auto-x'ing in such a flowing manner.

It was a great exercise of correct car placement combined with angle of attack. If you got both of those just right, the course really opened up and you could carry a ridiculous amount of speed in several places. I definitely had a couple of high "pucker" moments on each run which I haven't had on course in quite a while. Fun stuff!

Excellent event! Kudos to Jason, Maria and Rob for an excellent course!

As for FS, Art, Michael and Stephen definitely brought their A game. Congrats Art on fastest time Stock!! Since you boys have upped the game, so you've forced my hand. I cant afford new stickys and 18 wheels, so I'm off to TIR class. The new star specs have been ordered and on there way to Marks. I wish FS well this year, but it's out of reach for me. My tax adviser told me I had to change my withholding's for this year due to loosing Jordan as a dependent along w/ education credits and that hurts a lot. 2011 taxes are going to truly suck, but I digress...

Hope everyone had fun this weekend. We wrapped up just before the rain, so no fun runs was the right call. I would have loved a few more attacks on the course to see if I could get any where near Art's time, but Art and new A6's are a tough combo.

We'll see everyone in 2 weeks!!

You really want to run against me don't ya? Looks like I might have to buy slicks and run to CSP.

I want to give a big note of thanks to a few people who helped make both the novice school and our first event a success.

First - Thanks to mother nature for keeping the rain away until my runs were finished. (I was like the last one done so this isn't as selfish as it sounds  )
Second - Thanks to Maria Winslow and Jason Watts for helping organize the Novice school, contributing ideas and suggestions and making sure that the students had plenty of seat/instructor time, and were first-time event chairs for Sunday and without them the event would not have been a success.
Third - To all the instructors who gave of their time to help teach novice autocrossers better skills and get faster. I think that all but 1 Novice Trophy went to Novice School Grads which attests to the quality of instruction.
Fourth - To Charlie Monroe for helping with the Novice School plans and making sure I didn't get off track with my midnite email ramblings as well as working to make the event run well; and Karl Shultz for his help with set-up, problem solving and suggestions.
FIFTH - and most importantly - To all the students who were open to learning, stayed on time and on task during the event, had fun and learned a bunch. It was great to see the times improve and the skills get better and makes all the work to put this on worth it.

Finally, I want to thank a couple of new members Pedro Cuevas and Nic Cadenas who jumped right in and helped instruct and set up - a big thanks and to Maria Winslow who let me drive her Mini. Damn, I had a blast in that car.

Thanks again to everyone, I had a great time (with the exception of driving the damn bus  ) and am looking forward to the next event and hopefully my own car.
