Hum, it seems that somewhere on I95 in SC we donated a cooler full of cokes and Dew. Can't believe the road was so bumpy that the tailgate banged open and we never heard it.I wonder how long it dragged under the trailer before letting go?Had a SC HWP car running beside us for awhile. We figure he must have been looking at cooler parts. Shrug

I can believe it. David and I had a few "Dukes of Hazzard" moments in the Integra on I-95 in and around the construction zones. Hooray for bump stops...

I hope you guys had luck with the I-75 -> GA 82 -> I-95 route. Once again we saw a ton of patrol cars on GA 82 but it sure seems like the easiest way to cross over to I-95.

The road was horrible on that section of I-95. I found myself riding in the fast lane most of the time because it was a bit smoother. As far as patrols on 82. I only passed maybe 2 or 3 and I maintained a steady 65-70 through most of it. I also found out that when you put 6 tires on the tire trailer and they stick up in the air that much more that the S2000's fuel economy went from 24 mpg on the trip down to 19-20 on the return trip.

If we said it once, we said it a half dozen times, "Jim really knew the best way to go." We saw cops @ nearly every slowdown point, but stayed behind a trucker who seemed to know exactly where to slow down. Again, thanks. As I said eariler, thank goodness we didn't have to work today. We're STILL driving!
(Side bar) Who the heck made these phone keypads so freaking small? Oh wait, maybe I'm just a hamfist.

I think we saw at least 6 on the return trip but I swear we must have seen 15 on the way down. That is a crazy amount for what amounts to less than 10% of the trip.

We averaged our usual 32-35mpg over the entire trip (including competition) even loaded up with 6 tires, tools, misc. bags and a cooler. It helps that all our crap is stuffed in the hatch, though. :)

Did anybody else see the horrible accident that closed the southbound side of I-95? Oh, and it appears that it either spilled into the northbound side OR there was a similar, yet separate, accident. It was around Fayetteville at about 1:00am or so? By the time we got there, fire, police, etc were onsite and had the road blocked on the south side. Tons of debris still in the road on the north side and no tow trucks in sight. Thought maybe some of you guys caught it a bit earlier. Whatever happened, it looked UGLY!

I was through there by midnight and there was nothing at that point. All was clear and not much traffic at all on the road.

Finally got home. 1125 mile round trip to autocross. Worth it? You bet!

We didn't stay on I-95 far enough north to see any aftermath. We cut off above South of the Border and go through the country so we can miss the I-40 mess around Raleigh and RTP.

We rolled through there around 12:45am and there was some kind of unidentifiable car on a rollback. There was also a semi-truck up against the inner guardrail but I couldn't tell if it was involved. I was kind of surprised that there wasn't a bigger traffic jam on the southbound side so they must have done a good job with the detour.

We got lucky the entire trip and managed to dodge at least 4 seemingly major traffic jams on the various highways. They were all in the other direction and luckily the rubberneckers didn't slow down our direction too badly.

Here is the video of my fastest scratch time from each day. I managed to nip cones with the rear wheel on each of these runs.
