the TNT course last year was awesome I thought. I for one am excited about it. The P is nice, but theres certainly some interesting things that can be done with that area.

Is roughly where the worst bad spot is, if my memory serves correct.

Thanks. I put that into maps below -- I've always thought that area was junk, but maybe if it's cleaned off and all, it's not any worse than the old area.

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=34.779966,-79.354218+&sll=34.787233,-79.361544&sspn=0.039933,0.034804&g=Maxton,+Robeson,+North+Carolina&ie=UTF8&ll=34.779575,-79.356898&spn=0.009984,0.012789&t=h&z=17

This is more or less correct, but we can use more of the main runway than is shown here.

We ran the Golden Knights area a few years back. There were a few spots that had to be worked around. Mostly concrete broken. I don't remember the slabs being lifted where they meet like the other end of the site is. At the end of the taxiway we used, by the left turn, the concrete was lifted badly. Then add in all the holes and mess.

We ran about 2/3 of that loop and it wasn't too bad. Bring it up in Google Earth. You can see the layout and an image from Oct/08. If you could also use the main runway to the left of it that would be nice. Depending on the condition. That poor site needs work...

could someone post a big red circle/square around the area we get to use?

also, why does it look like their is a track outlined on there already? in the center strip? I see a figure 8, an big cirlce and what looks like a few other elements in the center.

Basically everything on that picture posted above is correct. To simplify, we can more or less use everything we were NOT using before, and our old areas have been blocked off for other, private, uses.

There are other car clubs that use L'burg as well. I know the Porsche guys run down there on occasion. We ran that section at the TnT last year as well. The grippy tires wears the dirty layer off the top of the concrete - thus the outlines you see.

Thanks, So we have the runway, the taxi way, and that weird funky square with all the cul-de-sacs as our site?

as far as the path's being "cut" into the runway, I think its kind of cool that google map's was able to see that, though it would be cooler if they were to actually catch someone that was running a course out there.

You know this would make a nice oval course. We could title the event NASCRAP Meets SCCA and run it like an oval with a 90 degree turn on one side. Just no banking.

or........

We could use it like a figure 8 and make figure 8 racing out of it. We wouldn't have to worry about overlap.....well overlap in reverse.

Just a thought.....

Yup, and here's some motivation for some folks to actually sign up to chair the events there - if I do it there will be a pivot cone in every one of those cul-de-sacs

Doesn't a 5 minute autox course start getting into like road course territory?

Graham might even come for that if we don't use any cones
