Auction Direct USA say that they will locate and purchase a vehicle of your choice and in your price range at an auction for you, and it's all 100% no-obligation. If you don't like the car, you get your deposit back. Sounds a bit too good to be true--anyone used them in the past?

My buddy bought a black Mazdaspeed 6 from them recently and the service was overall good. The car had a few small issues but nothing that was really the dealer's fault.

It sounds like a good concept in a tough auto market.

If you want his number, let me know. I'm sure he'd tell you more about them.

Please PM the number to me -- they got mixed reviews on the intertubes. Would be nice to have a first-hand account :)

I don't know anything about them- BUT, I found it funny how their ads say "buy any car for just $399 over the Auction Direct reserve price!!!"

WOW, sounds great!! I can buy a car for just $399 over what they pay for it at auction???!!! (that's what they make it sound like)

Then you read the fine print and the "Auction Direct reserve price" has NOTHING to do with what they paid for it, it's some arbitrary price they pick and then charge you $399 over that......

Tricky.

Well, as long as I can know their price for the car of my choice in advance, and accept it as fair, I can live with that.

Have been staying sick at home all week so far, but will go to their office as soon as I feel solid enough, see how that goes.

Alex, why not give Chip or Holland a call at Atlantic Auto Exchange. if you tell them what you are looking for i am sure they can find one for you. they are club sponsors. 8)

So I just got off the phone with Chip, and I think I'd rather have them help me find the car for me than trust some national chain that will buy them for you sight-unseen. Atlantic Auto Exchange guys actually say they'll inspect all cars before buying them.

As for me, I just can't stand all the suspense with car shopping on my own. I want my new toy NOW! :)

Take your time and find the right car. It is out there and make sure you buy the best car for your money, not just the first one that looks like it fits the bill. You are lucky because you are not picky about color so that won't be an issue. (Although I am personally hoping for yellow)

Good Luck

Well, I just hope I'll have my perty new car in time for the holiday party next month. Would have been nice to have it last Sunday, though...

Steve, thanks for the recommendation! I called Chip and within 2 hours he had a car for me--that same day!

Big Kudos to Chip at Atlantic Auto Exchange--for finding the car that I wanted, in the price range and mileage range, AND in the color that I preferred.

Yesterday I drove out to look and test drive the car, had it inspected at a shop I take my other car to, and it checked out just fine.

So today, there is a very different animal sitting in front of my house, waiting to be taken out to an autocross. Even has Hankook performance tires on it :)

Congratulations! She’s a beauty.

Now, what’s the plan? Staying stock? Making the jump into Open? Joining the ladies? :?: Inquiring minds want to know!
