I have a friend that has a 96 Miata that needs to some engine work performed. I didn't go into detail with her but it sounded like it needed some work in the valve train and some seals replaced. She is looking for a good mechanic that is reasonably priced and familiar with working on Miatas in the North Raleigh area (prefered) or general Raleigh area. Thanks.

It isn't North Raleigh but, Sports and Compacts on Hillsboro St (by the fair grounds) are Miata Specialists. It says so in their name. Plus they are easy to deal with.

I am pretty sure that Craig at Carolina Imports could work on it as well.

Second Todd's recommendation of Sports and Compacts. They've handled my Miata since 60K service, including clutch, 120K service, and various supercharger and racing parts. They give a 10% discount on labor to THSCC members, and they don't hold on to your car forever.

If it's got to be in North Raleigh, there's always McNair Performance, but they do tend to hold onto a car for quite a while until they can work it in, and they're a little pricier. They do good work, though.
