But we already knew that.
I went by his shop this morning to get the CRX aligned for the first time ever and he did an awesome job as usual. I was a little worried about getting the CRX on a rack since it sits so low but we had no trouble at all.
I've always done my own alignments but there was always that question in the back of my mind if I had things set properly. I haven't attempted to align it since sometime last year and with all the changes between now and then, I knew it couldn't possibly be right.
Well, it wasn't! The front had more toe out than your average "duck" and call me a "quack" if you like, but 1/3"+ total isn't ideal by any stretch. My rear was "crabbed" off to one side slightly and had a bit of toe out as well. While that might do in a "pinch", it isn't going to win any big events. While he was under there, he also figured out how much I have to adjust a tie-rod to give me the front toe I want at events. He even "marked" it so I would know exactly where I'm at. That way I can run zero toe for driving around and make a change when I'm swapping wheels/tires.
He also did a quickie inspection and discovered that my rear wheel bearings need replacing. They aren't at the dangerous point or anything but they definitely have a bit of play in them. With 265k+ miles on them, I shouldn't be surprised.
The car was amazingly stable on the trip home which I've never experienced in that car before. It should make the 12+ hour drive out to Arkansas this weekend much less stressful especially if I get caught in some of those big storms headed this way.
If anybody out there needs an alignment, go see Mark!
