I did a search and it seems most of the stuff I came up with on this forum was for collision repair. Calling around to some of the recommended places, I didn't realize that there were people that specialized just in collision repair and had no interest in just repainting a car.

That being said, anyone have any recommendations on a shop that that will completely repaint a car (just the exterior, not the door sills), and do some light rust repair? I am not looking for a perfect (read expensive) job, just to refresh the cars looks and hopefully have the paint job hold up for 4 or 5 years relatively well. I have explored the Maaco route just to find out a bottom of the barrel price. Also...anyone have Maaco experiences they want to share?

I used Peach on Capital Blvd six years ago to repaint my '85 Mustang GT. They actually did a pretty good job, but I'm sure they've seen a bit of employee turnover since then. If you do the labor intensive prep yourself it will come out much better. GRM did a story along these lines a couple of issues back on their Volvo.
FWIW - I had the Mustang painted in the fall. After I got the quote they called me back about two weeks later and cut the price by 25%. They claimed it was their "slow" period and they needed the work. I did opt for the upgraded job with a separate clear coat shot.

At work we use Tunstill Williams on S Saunders street near the Harley dealer. They have done rust repair and painting for the shop, they also painted the boss's Town car about 10 years ago and the paint still looks good.

Bob Kendrick had a car painted by Maaco. It was a color coat only job with no clear coat. The paint had about as much shine as a brick after 3 years.
