No, people think they are the same fluid because lots and lots of reputable parts suppliers say this. People that I know and trust.

just to clear things up.. this is from Continental Teves, the company that manufactures ATE brake fluid.

Hello Kevin,

thanks for your question you had on our SUPER BLUE RACING fluid. In fact,
this our high performance fluid in the racing colour blue.
The yellow TYP 200 is exactly the same fluid as the Super Blue Racing,
exeption made for the colour.
So, your information is exactly true!

Thanks for driving with ATE Brake fluid.

Do not hesitate to contact us again directly in case of further questions
you might have.

Kindest regards,

Heike Kretschmer

OK - having read all this about Performance, here's my question - is there another place (non-dealer) that you can take your Subaru to?? I have a buddy with a wagon that is making all sors of driveline noises. He doesn't want to take it to a dealer if possible (and after reading this thread, definitely not!) - just wondering is there's anyone else out there who you can recommend??

Cheers, Mark

Teague's Auto in Marshall (north of Asheville) is the best place to go for Subaru service in NC. Talk to Dale at 828 683 9218 The only thing he won't do is transmission rebuilds - he'll remove it from the car & send it to a Subaru transmission rebuild specialist for that.

I've never had any problems with Southern States on Wake Forest Rd in Raleigh, either. They have a couple of very good Subaru mechanics there. (not on the experience level of Dale, but good enough for most things, I guess)

Thanks for the info - I passed it on. Also, there's a place called "WASP Autos" (apparently the service Subarus) near 54/55.....anyone used them??

Cheers,

Mark

Location: Durham, NC, in my garage, breaking something on the RX-7
Regarding WASP - I have used them, but not for a Subaru. They did pre-inspections on RX-7's I was considering buying several years ago (for a meager sum of $45 each and spent probably an hour or more poking around the engine bay looking for problems).

If they didn't think that 3rd gens were the work of the devil, I probably would have let them work on mine at the time.

They were fair, honest, and fairly thorough in their assessment and weeded out at least one or two cars I'm now glad I didn't buy based on what I now know about these infernal beasts. They also seem to have good reviews if you poke around looking for recommendations online the last time I looked them up.
