Anybody have reviews of service they have received from Marcus Hill for speeding tickets? I know he is sort of the "club lawyer." But his fee is significantly more than the lawyers I'm getting letters from soliciting. If he delivers, it is worth the extra dough, so I just wanted to maybe hear some testamonials to see if he generally delivers what he promises.

I've always used one of the lawyers that sent me letters (usually the cheapest :-) ), and so far I've always been happy with the outcome (knock on wood). So unless you think your situation is gonna require some special talent on the part of your lawyer, I'm not aware of any reason to pay more than you have to.

I've used marcus twice.. but i think i agree with carl.. they all will pretty much get the same thing done so whoever is willing to do it for the least amount is probably the one to choose. i will probably do that next time..

Yeah I agree on the price part. When we did the 40th event in L'burg I got nabbed on Rt 15 just before the end of Moore County. Sneaky bugger was stashed off the side of the road and I never saw him...

I got about 15 mail offers for legal services. I called Marcus and thought his price was just too much. But he did tell me that if I wanted to just plee it myself he would tell me what to do and say at no charge.

Read those offers. Look for one that is in the county you got the ticket and has prior experience as an ADA in that county. The one I got had worked as an ADA for 5yrs and knew everyone in the system. She got my speeding ticket turned into "Improper Equipment". No points, no record that means anything to the insurance company. I paid her $200. Considering court costs an the fine were listed as $125 had I gone and paid it I don't think the price was bad. Plus I never went down there to court or to her office. Just faxed her a copy of the ticket and sent a check.

Graham

Same here. I got nabbed in Sanford once and picked the cheapest offer I got, which was all of $10 more than the court fees and covered everything. Reduced from ~20 over to fault equipment and saved me a day in Sanford.

Talked to Marcus about another award I got in VA which was more serious. Seems like he is worth the price for real serious stuff (ie, DUI, racing, REALLY excessive speed) but not really for speeding.

From what I've gathered from another forum I'm on, Marcus is worth the extra in his home counties quite often (which I think are really just Wake and Durham and maybe Orange), assuming we're talking something over 15 over or multiple charges. If it is just a normal ticket and you're trying to avoid insurance charges, just go with someone cheaper from that county.

Marcus is definitely *not* worth using outside his home territory, even though he *will* go outside. Don't do that. Find someone local to the area.

But outside of all that, WE NEED DETAILS! :-)
