Anyone know of a place that can do a custom hitch for a resonable price? I have a 944 Turbo and would like to get a tire trailer. There is a DaLan hitch for a little over $200 but it connects to the bumper and the sheet metal in the spare tire well. A custom may be able to connect to the frame. Is it unrealistic to think that a good custom hitch can be done for around the $200 that the DaLan would cost?

Almost every bumper hitch i have seen ofr a sports car attaches to the bummper and parts of the spare tire well.

Also I am not aware of any frame under a 944, its a unibody. I had a hitch in my 944 when I got it and it was as described for the DaLan. Too bad I pitched it back when, now that I too will need a hitch to tow the tire tralier for my 944.

Porsche apparently offered a factory hitch at one time. There should be mounting points under the car but I have not looked yet.

You can get a DaLan through U-Haul. I may go this route so I can return it if there are any fitment issues with the 944 Turbo. The Turbo has a rear wing under the bumper.
