I know that most of you guys know this already, but I just ordered my first set of Bobcat pads from Carbotech for the Miata yesterday. I called and talked to Matt around 3:00 or so and fully expected to get them tomorrow (friday) at the earliest. Well the UPS guy shows up at the door a little while ago and I expect him to be delivering my new rotors. Wrong!!!! It was my pads!!!!!!! Less than 24 hours since I ordered them, they were on my door step. That kind of service kicks ass in my book. I will definately be ordering from them again!!!

I gotta ask -- what color are the backing plates painted? The Bobcat pads I got last year had red backing plates. Not too unusual. But I ordered a set of XP9s this week, and when I opened the box, I laughed out loud - the backing plates were painted brown! I guess No Gum Racing lives on after all.

That's right Art - brown lives on. The most non-racecar color ever to exist.

Those XP9s are going to rock your world. I'm not kidding - you'll have to change your braking points. I remember braking at the 4 marker at Summit and needing to get back on the gas (!!) before turn-in. This in a car (my Integra) that is considered badly underbraked when raced.

Anyway...not only does Carbotech's customer service rock, the product works better than anything I've tried (and I've tried a LOT of brake pads). Just ask Tom Hoppe (Solo2 ownage in STX) or Jason Franza (who has already locked up the ECHC H2 Championship) or...well, nevermind. The Carbotech stuff works.

The plates are red Art. Thank goodness they aren't brown. That would surely make the car stop slower. I would think the brown would also hurt the top end speed and low end tourque, since brown is such a SLOW color!

I am pretty sure that the pads are color coded.

Bobcat - Red
P+ - Black
XP8 - Silver
XP9 - Brown
XP10 - I have no clue...

Being 3 hours away doesn't exactly hurt delivery time

Gee...I wonder who picked that color...

Orange

I hope we don't come out with an 1111 compound. I've run out of silly colors to paint stuff...
