For some complex reasons, my original R&J thread was closed. I wanted to make a bunch of updates that are consistent with the updated forum guidelines to my original posting here.

With regard to the event that caused me to post, I had asked R&J to do an exhaust header fitment which required some welding. During the fitment, the lost 2 of the stock header studs and stripped out the thread on the third stud hole. :evil: This cost me and a friend many hours of repair time when the header was ready to be installed for real.

I actually returned to R&J to have a custom cat-back installed. Upon my return, I spoke directly with Robert about my past experience. I explained all the details that made me unhappy. Robert did not deny any of my issues, and he basically took responsibility for my problems. I eventually figured out that one of the shop techs did the header fitment, so it's basically a crap shoot if you are not dealing directly with Robert. All things being equal, this was not an acceptable resolution to my original problem. :(

However, I needed to have a custom cat-back installed, and R&J is one of the only choices in this area. I basically gave Robert a second chance (against my better judgement). The second time, he did a magnificent job installing my cat-back. All the fitment was top-notch. Price was a little high, but totally worth it.

I have actually gone back a third time to install a real nice twin-loop muffler. Robert came through for me again the third time, and I am very pleased with the work.

I have been to their shop several times, so if anyone has questions about R&J I will be happy to share what I know.

Went there today and had a very positive experience. The price was not cheap but after the Tarheel discount I was happy.

Robert modified a WRX exhaust to fit the Legacy Turbo -- I had already installed the front and middle section. He had to move 3 mounts and add about 4-1/2" to the rear section as the Legacy has a longer wheelbase. It only took about 30 minutes and he didn't mind my milling around.

I'll definitely go back.

Would you care to quantify that? What do you call a "little high"?

Well it's more than Meineke would charge most likely but I'm satisfied with the job and the fit. This is way more than I can say for any Meineke place I've used ever. I'd prefer not to state the exact amount out of deference to the vendor.

Well actually I was asking Ken. :P However I guess it is rude to ask about people's financial business in a public forum. I apologize for that.

i always "mill around", but i would far rather leave a vehicle @ R&J than anywhere else in town. and i have left several there for add-ons and maintennance. in my opinion R&J is a top notch speed shop.

Well I would say;

1.)Not public, club members only
2.)The fact that someone posts, good or bad, about a vendor should indicate they should speak freely about it.
3.) Competition is good for the consumer

Just my $0.02

Even Ray Charles could see that we have an a) PM feature and b) a zero tolerance for BS filter on the forum. Why not say what you did?

Enquiring minds want to know!
