Planning next month to put a set of Hankook R-S3 245/40/18 on the RX8. Just pay Tire Rack shipping or any suggestions of local to pick these up? Running $708 plus shipping thru TR fwiw.

You could have them drop shipped to performance chassis in Cary and then have Mark and the crew install them for you. Performance chassis is a big club supporter. You could also talk to Jeb Brookshire at discount tire off of Milbrook.

Check with Jeb Broookshire at Discount Tire 919.789.8356, one of our club supporters. He pricematched TireRack on a set of Dunlop StarSpecs for me recently. I didn't have to pay shipping costs, but it did add NC sales tax.

I saved a little money and gave some business to a local club supporter. They mounted and balanced the tires for me one Saturday morning in less time than it took me to eat a quick breakfast at the McDonalds across the street from them. They did a good on the balance too. Got rid of my previously annoying 65 mph shimmy.

Plus you get free lifetime balancing with discount, and Jeb is just a flat out nice guy. I recommend him to pretty much anyone I know who needs to tires.

+1.

On a related note, DT can get StarSpecs? I thought the TR deal froze them out?

I never had a problem with them getting Star Specs even after the deal.

I think the Z2s started production in March and April, but I haven't seen any releases from Dunlop US about distribution.

Yeah, I wanted to see if Jeb had super-secret connections with Japan to get some before the US release. Sigh....we'll have to wait for 2013 though. Still hope DT carries them when they do arrive.

That's good to know as DT is right across the street from my house. (and VIR pretty much trashed the tires on the bug, not that it needs star specs)

Having new tires put on the R as we speak. We purchased them on Tire Rack and shipped to Performance Chassis. They have been a pleasure to deal with thus far.
