Anyone have a recommendation for a house painter in Durham? The trim around my windows, shudders, deck and garage doors needs paint. Had someone from "College painters" come to my door and had them quote out the job, looking to get a quote from someone else as well. House is a 1650sqft split level, deck is ~100-125sqft raised up on the 2nd level with stairs down to the ground.

Quoted me $1621 for the job. Includes power washing the whole house + deck, all window trim w/sanding, remove the shutters and paint them and pain the deck. Does this sound about right? Never paid someone to do this before.

I'm in for recommendations as well, SW Durham. I need some masonite siding replaced, too, and this time, I might just cave and have the whole thing redone with Hardiplank. I'm getting sick of this stuff going soft on me and having to be replaced.

Jeremy and Erin are getting their house painted and mentioned the company they are hiring as being highly recommended by some folks in Woodcroft. Hopefully they will chime in. Laura and I are looking to get some interior painting too.

This is the guys we are using: http://www.exceptionalpainting.net/
The owner is very friendly and knowledgable. I believe they do both interior and exterior painting, we are getting interior work done.

I currently own 3 and previously 4 houses in this area and have always used the following 2 painters - call and get quotes from both. Between them both I've spent probably $30K+ on services in the past 6-8 years.

Russell Reed prowessinc@nc.rr.com (not super fast to respond so I suggest calling) 919-426-6159

Josue Olea 919-608-9414

Good luck.

I recommend Billy Rodgers 1 (919) 669-7778. He came recommended by Chris Suich and was awesome. He did my whole house in apex with hardiplank in spring 2011. He showed up when he was supposed to, didn't require money up front, and did a great job.
