Went to upgrade to a climate controlled storage facility over lunch today, and discovered that the explicitly prohibit tires.

I'm guessing because of the difficulty extinguishing a tire fire. Anyone even see a storage company that does not prohibit them? I now have 3 sets of R-Comps in my apartment and it is getting a little crowded :)

How often do they have tires catching on fire there? Sounds like a place you want to avoid storing your stuff.

I'm guessing it is just insurance requirements or something - it may be that way everywhere.

Yeah, I hear tires make great air fresheners.

If I brought a date home she'd get one whiff and think I had some weird German fetish or something

besides if you are good enough, it wont matter what girl (or animal?) you bring over they will never notice the tires.

Sean, I thought you had an engine or two in your apartment? I am positive I saw an intake manifold or two in the one here.

Its probably a fire code issue for the city/town you live in.... Might look to a county based storage facility, as the county code is more lax than city....... SOMETIMES...

I've got 4 sets of R compound that I just sank into the earth, to use as raised beds for tomatoes and peppers..... Two of my favorite things married in harmony... dirt farming and high tech race rubber...

You might try Jimis Minis on Delta Lake Drive in Raleigh. I used to have a storage unit there. They have climate controlled units.
