Anyone know if our logo exists anywhere as a vector image? Thus far the versions I have (thanks Mary) are not that ideal for blowing up to gargantuan proportions.

Let me know if you have anything that fits the bill.

Dave Blum created the current artwork, so that's who you should check with - he works at Apex Vintage.

My personal opinion: If it can't be found in vector format, it would be worth a few bucks to have it recreated by a good graphic artist in vector format. I know I'd personally love to have some THSCC stickers that are a decent amount larger than the round ones we've had for ages.

It would be cool to have a simpler two or three color logo that those of us with vinyl cutters could do easily, too. Preferably something not round and of the more traditional bumper sticker type ratio and vector.

I'm pretty sure Mary credited him with the images I've already got.

Yeah, we're paying David Spratte to do it for us :) David - how do you like your peanuts? Boiled or roasted?

Roasted. Boiled peanuts. Gah. Really. I'd rather pick up an unfinished margarita in a bar and finish it before I'd eat boiled peanuts. :P

Just for the record, it wasn't unfinished-- it was certified pre-owned.

Let me see if I can get to it in the next couple days. It's been too hot to work upstairs where the computer and vinyl cutter is in the daytime lately.
It's a bit more complex than it looks to just run it through a conversion filter/tracing program.
If someone can email me the largest bitmap version available, it will make it a lot easier.

is a Portable Network Graphics file and, as such, is reasonably expandable using s/w such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro. Still, it was sourced from a raster image so it starts getting ugly at some point.

Note that the bright green background is there to provide a "set transparent" color for the round logo, t's not supposed to be part of the image... If you don't have an easy way to get rid of it, let me know and I'll give you another one.

I have now converted the logo to vector format, both Corel Draw! (.cdr) and exported it in Adobe Illustrator (.ai) the two most popular vector formats. I can export it in other formats. I can email them to anyone who wants them, or to someone who can post them on the club website. I was as faithful to the original bitmap as possible, the only adjustments I made was to the lettering around the outside. In the original it was not concentric to the circles nor the same size all the way around. The vector file was not cleaned up for cutting, it was a lot of work as it is, but will print just fine. The design is such that cutting it would be a serious amount of work that I sure wouldn't tackle. Maybe it's time for a new updated logo that could be cut?

I'd love to see one that could be cut. Perhaps a simplified version of what we have without the flags and with the tar heel a bit bigger? And likely cut out that background. *shrug* I'm no graphic artist, though...

biggest drawback of the present one is all the black outlines and lines not to mention the lettering on the NC flag and the checkerboard. There are so many elements it would take a week of work just to eliminate the overlaps not to mention outlining each side of every line.

Why cut? I'd just be happy getting it down to a reasonable number of inks. Full color/process screen printed stuff looks like. . . full color/process screen printed stuff.

IMHO I think one that could be cut, without being hand weeded. . . it's be so different as to barely resemble the current.

Now if we got it to a 3 color job, I could see printing die-cut, screenprinted bumper stickers. Usually laminated and colorfast for years.

If I catch a break, I'll look at it.

I agree it wouldn't look just like what we have. I'm really talking about a simpler logo that we can cut, though, and would still look good and represent. As for "why", the big reason is some of us have cutters and do a lot of vinyl work anyway. Having one we can cut let's us have a little control over the colors so we can match it up with other stuff on the car. I can already cut my own Hoosier, Mazda, Tire Rack, etc, and make them look a little better than the stuff the companies hand out.

Oh, and I can size it myself. Can't do that with a preprinted sticker. I'd obviously use a preprinted sticker if it came in a good size and worked with the graphics scheme anyway, but it would be nice to have the vinyl option, too. That's all I'm sayin'.
