2008 SMARTT Challenge (EV Challenge)

THSCC will be helping again this year with the SMARTT Challenge (formerly known as the EV Challenge). The event is May 16-17. The range event will be May 16 at Historic Oak View County Park again. We may need a volunteer (or two) to drive the bus over that day and do some announcing. The last two years we haven't been very involved in that though.

On Saturday, May 17, they will be holding the autocross portion of the challenge at the McKimmon Center on NC State campus. We will definitely need 10-15 people that can come out and work the course and a few of those to come extra early and help set up on Saturday.

For those of you that haven't done it before, it's really great to see the effort the kids put into this. As always, free lunch right after the event and YOU GET A FREE AUTOCROSS PASS. You are usually home no later than 2PM.

Put me down as a definite for Saturday and a possible to drive the bus on Friday. I'll need to confirm at work that I can get away for that day.

Dustin and I discussed a plan for the bus after the Danville AutoX.

If it still holds true, then the bus will be at my home in the next day or so until the SMARTT Challenge. I can drive it to the SMARTT Challenge and then take it to Four Oaks. If someone has a strong desire to drive I can certainly bow to that.

Just an update. We don't need anyone on Friday as they don't need us to do the announcing for the range event. I do need a few more (2 maybe?) to work on Saturday if you can make it.

My son Christopher will be coming out to help on Saturday.

I was going to have him follow me to Four Oaks with the bus after the event. (I'd be driving the bus,

he'd follow)
