Announcing the 2007 THSCC Secretary Challenge

As always, it's Karl's fault.

Next year we're going to try something new. Instead of trying to drag someone kicking and screaming into the position, only to have the Secretary go AWOL, how about we really GIVE something to the secretary, improve the quality of the minutes AND meetings (see below), and reinforce our competitive nature at the same time?

Here's how it works:

- We're looking for eleven volunteers to be Secretary-For-The-Day at a club meeting. I'll post a schedule here. You post if you want a slot, pick the month.
- The SFTD will write the minutes for the meeting that month
- Minutes will be published as usual and posted in this thread
- At the Christmas party in 2007 the membership will Vote!!! for the best/funniest meeting minutes.
- The winner will receive a FREE SEASON PASS for autocrossing in 2008

- Second place may get an award. At this time the award is, um, nothing.

And a twist -- Like a good admin, the 2007 THSCC SFTDs should strive to improve the quality of the meetings. Buy everyone a round! Bring a table dancer! Schedule an interesting guest speaker. It's your meeting to organize. (Any meeting additions or modifications must be President approved.) Any contributions to the meeting by the Secretary will be taken into consideration during voting at the end of the year.

I'd ask that anyone who signs up for a slot -- if you cannot make it or have a change of plans you MUST coordinate a replacement. Once the slots are full, we'll make a waitlist.

Just an FYI, those meeting minutes could be the difference between a sucessful IRS audit vs. legal fees/issues if they aren't complete.

The minutes are a historical record of the club's doings, often the only real record. I suggest we not make the process a farce/inaccurate by have a short story competition in the "fiction" genre.

Humor is fine, but the minutes need to be accurate.

I was under the impression that there would be a 'real' set of minutes that the humorous minutes would be derived from. In any case that would solve the problem of the minutes being accurate.

And I'll volunteer for July. :)

Nope, the humor and minutes will be one in the same. Look at previous H&Ts that Karl Shultz wrote for some fine examples.

And YES they need to be accurate.

Actually, it's Scott and Ryan's fault. I told them, a lot of times, that if elected to Secretary for 06, I would not serve. The club voted me in anyway.

The rotating Secretary thing is actually a good idea, and I'd sign up for a month when I was actually active (at a track weekend or something).
