I have no doubt that THSCC will be sucessful now and in the future, however, I also would *like* to see us have a good standing in the motorsports community as a whole, and it's pretty clear we've got some work to do on that front.

So, the best solution? Do what we do best. Keep striving to run the best events possible.

For those of you that have been keeping up with all the other club forums, there has been a bit of confusion/hostility going around about the NCAC event that was planned for August 19-20, 2006. It was decided yesterday that we would move the event from the Greensboro Coliseum to the Old Sanford Airport after we found out we couldn't get insured for the event due to a beer festival that was being held on the premises the afternoon of August 19th. There has been a lot of speculation regarding this amongst the other clubs, and at this point, it isn't worth discussing the details as they will rehash the fire that was started yesterday.

Last night, the powers that be from the other local NC clubs had a discussion regarding the situation and decided to do what they thought was best for the autocross society within North Carolina. They will be holding an event on the weekend in question in Greensboro that will tentatively be called the "Carolina Autocross Championship". They plan to invite the 4 original NC clubs as well as a new club that has started up in Hickory NC, the Coastal Carolina Chapter of SCCA, and clubs from South Carolina. They have asked us to join them in participating and funding this event. The officers of THSCC have discussed this and would like your input in regards to what THSCC's involvement should be in this event. Our options are outlined below.

Option A: Move our event from the weekend of August 19-20th to August 13th. In addition it could be advertised as the "Carolina Autocross Championship" warm-up event. We would support the "Carolina Autocross Championship" being held the following weekend at the GBC financially (about $1500.00) as well as whatever other logistic and or personnel support they might require from us as a club.

Option B: Our event will be the same as option A, however, we would not financially or logistically support the event being held in Greensboro the following weekend as a club. Our members of course would be free to attend it as they like.

This thread isn't really for discussion or speculation. Comments are welcome, but if they are negative or in anyway bash one of the other clubs, they will be deleted. At this point, it really isn't worth digging back up any of the stuff that has transpired over the last week or so regarding what happened to the original event. There was much miscommunication involved both within our club as well as between all the clubs. In an effort to put all that behind us, please focus on the decision at hand and what you feel is best for our club as well as the North Carolina autocross society as a whole.

This poll will be open for 24 hours before we respond to the other clubs.

I think it would be in the best interest of the club to put aside all of our differences at this point and all work towards one great event.

It seems as there have been lots of rumors flying around and maybe no one even knows the whole story. I do know the officers have worked hard to put this event together and I would hate to see it go to waste.

Option A

I voted option A also, as that is what would seem to be the best for autocrossing in the state.

I voted option A and will skip the event on the 13th at Sanford. No need to waste tire. Not sure how they get insurance and we can't, but that is water under the bridge.

It is pretty obvious that "A" is the only real option if we want try to all get along and that is what needs to happen.

A few comments that I hope are positive enough to remain on this thread...

(1) Threating to create a break away series is sad and IMHO is not the best way to do this, but it looks like that is the world we live in. It did not need to come to this and I think in the end it will show who really is trying to be flexiable in making this happen and who is not.

(2) I would like to see THSCC as an equal participant in this. If that can't happen, then it shows a lack of faith on the other clubs and this is just a false way to "get together". Option "B" would then be the way to go.

(3) Basically I see this new venture having just as much or more chance of failure than what had been planned. So while this might be a "do over" for 2006, lets hope some lessons have been learned by everyone to prevent it from getting ugly all over again.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

Y'all have fun in Greensboro, I'll be attending the THSCC points event in Sanford. Something about water under a bridge that's burning ...

If you knew all the facts..... Like I said, we aren't going into them at this point, don't assume you have the whole story though.

Let's keep this productive guys.

I guess option A. It seems kind of silly to hold another thscc event one week before. Could someone explain why we would want to do this.

The event at the GBC with the other clubs is being held no matter what our decision about involvement is. It will not include a points event for us. The event the weekend before will be our points event. In case I didn't spell it out clearly...the event that was intended to be the NCAC for August 19-20 in Sanford has been canceled.

This has gotten out of hand. Do we have to register somewhere else to be able to run in Greensboro?

Sound's like the best plan. Option A. Hopefully, the entry list will really grow with the addition of SC drivers. Should be a blast! And a weekend in Greensboro... I get to go to Darryls 8)

Glad the clubs could work this thing out to the satisfaction of all concerned. Nice save, guys, regardless of the poll outcome.

However, not sure why we can't run our regular August event concurrently with the newly-monikered "CAC" event, like we originally planned.

Don't quote me on this, but I think they will be opening up registration sometime over the weekend for this event. I am assuming it will be under Triad's name on MyAutoEvents.com.

Look like A is the best but I would not be able to do the event the 13 in Sanford in that case.
I will be driving on the Autobahn in Germany at that time I will be back from there the 17.
Let see what happen in the next few days, who knows, something else might change again.

Noooo, don't say that. If something else changes, I quit.
