Wow, divide the lost interest that could have accrued and charge a late fee penalty to the renewers on the list :)

By the same token one could just as easily argue that the interest lost by someone paying for the membership that for the entire year should be paid back by the club. Pay in January and the 1/12 that pays for December is an interest free loan for almost a year.

FYI, I have been involved in negotitating corporate payment terms so this a game I have played before!

I thought memberships ran from Jan 1 to Dec 31 (or something like that). Wonder why I thought that?

Not 100% sure, but I believe that is correct. We just have a long grace period.

For clarification, please read what's on the mem app.

All of this information has been on the app since we went to the online H&T (Jan 05). Because it wasn't always so clearly stated on the app, as long as I've been making labels for the paper H&Ts, 3-4 yrs (maybe longer; I can't remember), the expiration date of your membership has been printed on your paper H&T label. For those who attend meetings, between Jan & Apr, Bowie frequently states the expiration date during the meeting. It was mentioned at the last meeting, also.

Is this "audit" really necessary? This forum is a great way to stay in touch with old friends (for those of us who have moved from the Triangle). Does it make sense for someone who moved out of the state to pay yearly dues just to use the forums? I am not trying to be a jerk or anything, just curious.

Charlie,

My take on it is that club membership offers a number of things. Event registration discounts, event advanced registration, Season Points and Awards, Heel and Toe, Online Forum and maybe some others. Some people may take advantage of some more than others. Some people just Autocross or Rallycross and may never visit the forum. We have a few people who have moved out of state and participate in club events rarely if ever. However they still are paying members and participate in the forums for the social aspect of the club.

So unfortunately for you the club benefits are not offered ala cart. It is all or nothing. The forums does have a "Visitors" area that anyone can post in. If you want to give an occasional shout out to say "Hi", you can do that as a non-member. But to continue with full forum access, you do have to be a member. Yearly renewal isn't that much, but for someone in your position (who can only take advantage of a smaller set of the benefits), you would have to just determine if the benefits outweights the cost.

Hope to see you as a member in 2006!

Richard

Here is another vote for online payment. I would pay a nice premium to just be able to click a 'pay here' button.

If the list of non-pay-ers is so long (as demonstrated by this thread)... and if the process is currently manual w/ the 'check and form' process as currently used by all... why not just allow the use of paypal and still do the manual process behind the scenes. I suggest a $7 'convenience' fee added on to the normal membership dues for this added hassle those that have to do the manual process have to endure and any fees paypal adds on.

Lets not try to boil the whole ocean at once.

If $7 isn't enough of a premium to cover the fees and extra work, then what would be?

just my two cents.

I want to pay, but I am a lazy B@$t()d and really like the idea of paying online. :)

I deactivated everyone on the list above except for about 9-10 who had renewed. If you have very recently sent in your renewal (Bowie doesn't have it yet) and you didn't let me know, then you have been deactivated. Deadline for this was last Thursday.

You obviously can't read this if you have been deactivated. ;) But if you are still on the forum and you get a message from one of the above somehow and they want to know what happened, give them the info on the first post above about how to renew, or contact Bowie or myself if they feel that they have already renewed but was deactivated.
