Several of us with younger children have been wanting to get together so our little ones can all meet and play, and us grownups can cook some meat. Time for the first annual THSCC Family Fun Day!

Where: Thomas Brooks Park in Cary -- I have reserved the shelter in the back with about a half dozen picnic tables. Nice playground, two playsets, big sandbox.

Google map of closest intersection

When: Saturday April 15, 4-7 pm. Rain date to be announced if needed. If it's raining out on the 15th, the event is cancelled.

What: Nothing formal or organized. Bring whatever you would like to feed and entertain yourselves and your kids. I need to check on whether a grill is available, if not y'all can bring your own. Alcohol is "against the rules", so be inconspicuous. I believe there are basketball courts there, and baseball/soccer fields if anyone wants to organize something.

Who: Well anyone in the club is welcome! Kids not required, but you do need to be able to tolerate them :) It's a pretty big parking lot and park where we will be, so as long as there isn't some international soccer tournament or something, we should have plenty of space.

Location is out of the way for some (but happens to be 0.5 mile from my house :)). It would be fun if someone would bring some little plastic cones and a variety of electric kid's vehicles and have an "autocross" in their parking lot (Rob? Mark M?).

I would also propose that we use this get-together as an opportunity to talk about how we might be able to handle "autocross daycare". Several people have indicated interest and this may be a good time to put something together.

RSVP not required, but you can respond here if you're planning to come! Also feel free to introduce us all to your family below!

Your Member at Large,
Mike Whitney

PS - Work is finally letting up a little, I know I've been MIA for a while!

I'll be there. I would also like to bring up the subject of track daycare. If anyone here has a responsible older child or any other person interested, I think that there is a seriously good opportunity to be the club kid watcher at a variety of events. I know I would use that service.

Since this is not the dog park, I will be bring Colin 5 days before fifth birthday on the day of the event and Sophie, 2½. My two labs will have to stay at home.

I think there is already some stuff going on behind the scenes. Maybe the person who was working on this will speak up, to fill us in on what she knows. :)

It will be later in the year, but we will definitely be in on the autocross daycare.

If Tonya is feeling up to it, we might come to the park, even though we are still "preparing".

I'm sure that the kids and I (and Rebecca if she isn't working) will be there.

And as for the day care, I've already put my vote in for it!

Mike,

We'll be there if Easter doesn't throw a wrench into the works.

Any news on this Mike? I have a small gas grill that I could bring if you'd like. Realize that this is the type you taking when camping at the track and will not cook up 20 burgers at a time. I will be happy to bring it and let others use it, however that will require staggered eating times on account of the limited capacity of the grill.

Mike,

We are still planning on being there. We also have a gas grill we could bring and let others use as well.
