Once again we will be hired by the EV Challenge to support their 2 day event. This years installment will be April 7th and 8th. Its being held this year at the Mckinnon Center on/near NCSU campus.

For those that dont know what I am talking about. The EV Challenge is a competition among middle and high school students to but an electric car. This challenge is to test the various cars against each other.

We need one (or two at most) volunteers for the Friday event at the McKinnon Center (April 7). Your job will be two-fold.

1) Drive the bus to the event.
2) Help announce the event (15-20 cars driving in slow circles, it isn't supposed to be hard to keep up).
2b) Troubleshoot the PA as needed (*if* needed).

You will need to get the bus to the event by late morning (10-11AM) and will be there until about 5PM.

Saturday:

I'd like to have the course set up by about 8AM Saturday morning. To do that we'll need an early start (I'm thinking 6AM). If you aren't an early morning person, don't worry, we don't need everyone there for setup (only 2 or 3 people required for setup - and probably all that is desired). By first car off (10AM), we need a full contengent for course work (probably 5 people to work the course, and another 2 people to work the bus).

Please reply to this thread if you can help out.

I'll try to be available to help out on Saturday. Not sure if I can get the time off of work on Friday or not.

Keep in mind that this is the same weekend as VIR North Course, so if you are planning to do the EV Challenge, then don't sign up for VIR.

This is one of the coolest events we do, I'd encourage lots of people to offer to help out. It's great to see high school kids excited about learning AND cars.

Put me down as a potential for both days. I need to check my schedule at home with the boss to make sure, but I should be able to help with Saturday. Friday I should be able to get out of work for that as well. I will update either tonight or in the morning on what my status is. :)

I'm actually awake now and reading everything again, I'm not so sure that I want to be announcing. My voice isn't the most pleasant sounding that's for sure. Anyone else going to be there to talk on Friday while I help with other stuff?

I'm not sure what I'm driving.
Maybe an ITR in DS.
Or half-assed STX prepped 330.

Not sure how this is going, but I'm still planning on being there for both days. Since I live 10 minutes away from the bus, I can always drive that out. If I can convince the bus keeper to go out also, then I'll be set. I was serious about having another body on Friday though. Mostly to keep me from going out of my mind.

I will be there as well that day....I think. I have actually taken over the reigns on this one from Ryan, so I will make sure we are covered. Maybe at the school this weekend, you, Kevin (if he plans on going to the EV Challenge) and I can get together for a couple minutes and discuss bus logistics.

Sounds good to me. I don't think that Kevin was planning on going, but he may still change his mind

Just trying to get a list going of who is going to be out there and able to help. As of right now, it is Cosby and myself for Friday. If I am not mistaken, I think they like us to do some announcing during the Range Event, so if there is someone that particularly likes to get on the mic...now is your chance to shine. I should have more info in the near future about what time we need to be there.

Either way, we need some more people for Saturday, so respond to this post if you can be there.

Currently we have:

Friday:
Stephen Westerfield
Cosby Wood
(someone who enjoys announcing would be much appreciated)

Saturday:
Stephen Westerfield
Cosby Wood
Scott Johnson
George Bright
Rob Lupella
Patrick Wellenius
Ryan Holton
(6-8 more people would be good)

One thing we forgot to mention here is that this is worth a free autocross if you volunteer and we usually go out for a free lunch afterwards. I still need more people for Saturday.
