Yet another design challenge
The PA equipment is going to be mounted on a "shelf" in the front cap of the bus. We were trying to come up with a cheap but functional install method around the following design points:
- Hard-mount the equipment to something removeable for rear access
- Removeable tray/rack/pan must be very firmly secured while driving
- CANNOT make make noise or rattle while driving
- 3 items to mount: big PA amp, big wireless mike box, small FM transmitter
- The opening in the access panel is about 14x35". The interior space is about 5' wide and 2' deep
- Carl F is working on making a fixed (plywood?) shelf about 4' wide by 18" (?) deep that we can mount the equipment rack to
A slide-out rack would be nice but I don't know what may be available which could meet #3. Right now I'm thinking that we mount the equipment to a plywood or other material shelf that has 4 holes on the corners and drops over bolts sticking up from the permanent shelf. Then use knobs or wingnuts to fix down. Not the prettiest installation, but it would work.
Since I hope to finish this install on Wed PM, I'm interested in ideas of things that can be sourced in the next 2 days.
Any ideas?
Mike
