I'm with Ron on this one, I always though we elected officers to make decisions like this, the autorcross and track events pretty much run themselves, with some input from the officers. So when I vote for officers I always think who would spend our money wisely and smartly. For example, when Mike Whitney ran for president I voted agaist him (sorry mike

) becuase I kepy hearing at lunch that he wanted to buy scales for the club so we could corner weigh our cars, a lot of us at lunch seemed to think that was an expense the club did not need, but Mike was pretty set on havcing thme

, so when his name was on the ballot I did not vote for him becuase I was not sure he was fiscally responsable enough and I always take that kind of stuff in consideration when voting for officers. (I am not picking a fight with Mike on the above just using this as an example.)
IF the officers put every issue out for a vote how would they get the info out to all the members and how long would it take for said vote to happen? Sure newsletter or wensday meeting or end of year party, but a majority of the member can't or don't come to those so that leaves the newsletter, and I my mind when it comes to vehicals you don't want to wait to long to act because you may miss a deal, or your old may give out.
The company I work for sells maitenance software to the Trucking and Conrete industry. We have bus companies and school districs ad the they can tell you that the cost of owning a vehical as it gets older continues to go up, to a point where you are fixing something every month and it becuase cheaper to get rid of the existing vehical and get somethine else, and you do not want to wait tell it is falling apart becuase then you will not get anything for said vehical.
Just my plugged nickel on this.
