I'd also like to point out that while attitudes of arrogance may have been passed down through the "generations" of THSCC, maybe all the other clubs have been hearing about how arrogant THSCC members are over the years & now they're misinterpreting what they see & hear.

Until I hear something specific, I'm calling bullshit and assuming it was a misinterpretation. (come on, Mike, let's hear it!)

Oh, and I'm sure somebody somewhere has heard me say something that could be interpreted as arrogant, but that has nothing to do with THSCC - that's just me being an asshole. So just leave me out of it.

Vincent,

The attitude of one notorious Richard West really isn't too far out of line with how some folks outside of Tarheel view the club as a whole. Perhaps not quite to that level, but it wouldn't be much of a stretch to say that. Good example.

Carl & Miles,

I most appreciate your input on the matter as the rest of the thread has denegrated down to nothing more than an Off-Topic thread about Saturday Night Live sketches. While I do like them and appreciate the joke with the cowbell, folks perceiving an entire club as a lot filled with asses isn't going to be fixed by any amount of joking. You guys' input is good to have even in light of the overabundance of cowbell remarks.

Kevin A,

I refuse to call out members on this board as I see it as a general perception thing. Specific incidents warrant PMs, not a public whipping. My post is far from BS nor is it out of line as it's intended for general awareness and self-analysis for folks that may not be aware of their actions or how they are perceived elsewhere.

Miiiiiiiike!!!!! :P

I didn't ask you to name names, I asked for specific details about what you PERCEIVED to be elitist assholishness. Until I hear specifics, I'm going to assume that you misinterpreted it.

If you see something that bothers you, don't just post to say "hey, something bothered me, but I'm not going to tell you what it was... but I really wish you guys would change your behavior so I don't see it again."

If you're going to post here with a complaint, include the specific complaint in the post. All we know is that somebody, somewhere, may or may not have said something mean that might've pissed somebody off & it may've reflected poorly on THSCC.

Hey, I have a great idea - next time I see Tom talking trash or saying dirty words, can we fine him & take points away?

:D

Oh, wait - somebody might get me, too... :?

Not that Mike needs anyone to defend him, but I feel pretty strongly about the direction this is going...

I agree that public flogging is not the best. As you say it is a perception thing. I see no problem with pointing out to the club how we are perceived.

IMHO, I think it has been implied (throughout the entire thread) that he should name names. Or that if he doesn't name names, he shouldn't say anything.

Wrong attitude IMHO. Please feel free to disagree with me however. "Elitist Assholes" do exist in our society. I don't think we need Mike or anyone else to define how they act. Like pornography, you know it when you see it.

I really hate being that guy, really I do, but is it considered elitist to post pics of trophies on a homepage? ( http://www.drbiggly.com/racing/ )

Just throwing some gasoline on a fire .....

:P

Now, see, I have these cool Pinewood derby trophies from cub scouts. I came in first (more than once!), I am going to have to post those on my home page. Only freaking first place trophy I have....

Oh...

Is it wrong that people walk past my cube and I am staring hypnotically at the cowbell? It is going to get me fired. I just know it.

Thank you soooo much for providing that example - so how about doing the following:

Define pornography.
Then define elitist assholism.
Then tell me why your definitions are better than mine.

8)

Pornography is all about perception, and so is what we're talking about here. All I'm asking for is a definition, I don't care who prompted this thread. I REALLY DON'T. No matter what you think I'm "implying" I really don't care who the perp is.

Something you guys are apparently failing to understand is that all of us have done things or said things in the past that have been misinterpreted. So until I hear EVIDENCE, I assume (yeah, make fun of that word, whatever  ) innocence.

I thought it was a neat way to do it. Granted, I have more trophies in number than I do importance. Most notably, not all of them are 1st place. It's the only mildly decorative thing I have in my house (aside from my home theater toys) but that is a discussion for another thread.

Richard,

Thanks. :)

Also wanted to add that I think Mike Winn is a great guy, and am not attacking him or calling him a liar. I'm just trying to give people the benfit of the doubt. And yes, I know that there are elitist assholes all over the world. Not all of them are THSCC members - but some of them are. :?

Wes (or whoever) - does my signature make me an elitist asshole? :?

Because I'm kinda proud of winning all that stuff in my first full season of "racing"... :P
