After much mucking about and spending money patching up the bus A/C, I have given up.

I got one of the A/C units like I have on my Winnebago installed on it:

It wasn't really hot enough today to test it, so I put a space heater in it and ran it until it was pretty hot in there, then I turned on the AC and let it duke it out with the space heater. The AC won and it was nice and cool on the bus.

I put a small generator in the trailer to run it and a yellow 50' 10GA extension cord. The generator should run all day on a tank of gas. Please use the 10GA cord that I provided, as using a smaller extension cord may produce suboptimal results:

That's great Roger. I have to ask though, on really sunny hot days, wouldn't an awning on the side of the bus help reduce thermal load and help keep the bus cooler?

Any shade helps, and based on my experience with my old short bus, the main culprit is the windows. Since we need to see out of it and can't block those off, I'd recommend a spectrum-specific film for them, maybe even with a moderate tint. I've used that before with excellent results. I can ask the guy that did my minivan what it would take to do the bus.

I would not recommend driving it under that low bridge in Durham.

Maybe Roger is too smart for sarcasm? Like Dr. Sheldon Cooper, he needs a sign. :P

I've never understood the awning references. I'm guessing that I wasn't involved in bus stuff when whatever that is referencing happened.

I can't wait to see who decides they would rather sweat to near suffocation than listen to a generator roar in their delicate ears..................

That generator is surprisingly quiet. My other two generators are much noisier.

I take it we shouldn't try to run the timing equipment off the genny?

I don't see why not. It is a cheap Sam's club generator, and I don't have an o-scope, so I can't speak for the quality of the power, but it should at least be a sine wave.

My apologies for catching you in the crossfire of a literally 15-year old joke
