Thanks Richard!
I would like to weigh in on the "median time" thing, because my perspective is different than "I wish my time would be counted" / "it's elitist not to include everyone." This is great if you are a confident person, but two people get hurt by this plan:
1. "I am new and I wouldn't want to hurt my club so I better not go out, I will definitely reduce our score." No, this is not me, but it would have been, five-six years ago. Well actually, it wouldn't, because I'm an asshole and I would have signed up under another club and hurt their times instead.

Which, by the way, is another fault in this plan - it is open to sabotage.
2. "I usually am half decent but today I had two DNFs and a spin and now I will not show my face for a year because I will be such a pariah, I can't believe I ran a 125 on a 40-second course." Yeah, I realize a median is not a mean and so there's only SO MUCH that one bad time can hurt you. But if you put yourself in the shoes of people with a lot of anxiety (most people on this thread do not qualify, so really try to empathize with some SERIOUS social anxiety here)... well, I just don't know any reason to make this person feel like a shit.
I won't personally feel the effects either way, because (as previously noted) I'm an asshole, and I am also unlikely to score in either the top or bottom 10 of ANY club (except Highland, where I might could be in both, and perhaps I shall!). But I think anything that discourages participation in an event of this size should be avoided, since (IMO) inclusion and mixing of clubs and FUN! are the primary goals.
