Steve, do you travel around your area a lot? Do you run across sites that are conducive to autocross? If so, make note of them.

Did anyone ever contact the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville? It's not close to Raleigh, but it could be a good site. Even has some elevation changes.

i do Jason. i spend a fair amount of time roaming Wake County. Fayetteville is 35 miles from my house. there isn't much but tobacco fields down this way. same with the Robeson County areas i haunt. there is a nice little regional airport down here in Buies Creek. don't know much more than that.

i have yet to stumble across anything i would say is AutoX or RallyX worthy lately.

make me want to go to B'lington ya'll..............

I have an idea.

Bring the Kid and the Bimmer to Burlington for the novice school. Leave her and the car there and we'll find one of our better drivers to take care of and instruct her. Then I will personally drive you to the Tanger Outlets so you can go purse shopping ALL DAY LONG without having to think about nor experience this icky sport of autocross!

Everyone wins!

see James, this is what happens when i don't follow the forums as closely as i should. i am on the fence with the new site, as i am sure some others are. get me some good intel, maybe an Embassy Suites that is close by with a Tex-Mex that rivals the one in L'Burg and we shall see.

I believe there is a Tex-Mex place across the street from the Burlington site and if the grass is cleared out, it would easily be our best site at least until NCCAR is fully paved. Now lets just hope we get to actually use the Burlington site.

This may be a stupid question. But can you use any of our current sites to possible use as an example to gauge how big it is?

IE: its as wide as Sanford if you assumed the middle was paved and about 1/2 the length of Danville.

Its somewhat difficult to compare to our current sites so take a look for yourself, the same scale for each:

Sanford: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=sanford,+ ... a&t=h&z=16

Burlington: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=204+Graha ... 16&vpsrc=6

One thing the satellite image doesn't show is the pretty significant elevation change at Burlington which effectively adds even more useable pavement. The main thing that makes in better in my opinion is that it allows for much different configuration than we are typically used to at our airport runway sites, maybe not some of the higher speeds we are used to on the runways, but less slaloming and more sweepers.

The tax maps list the site area at 10.24 acres, that is 5 times bigger as the old Greenville site (2 acres) to put it in perspective

Thanks Ryan. I must have glossed over that in the Burlington thread

Can't do that because Steve doesn't have a backyard. His wife does though, but it's for the 1HP type stuff.

They can shit on asphalt just as well as grass. I don't see the problem.
