One of the perks of THSCC membership is access to the forums, online Heel and Toe as well as the “passcode” used for early event registration. Only THSCC members should have access to these. Senior officers at their discretion may allow a few non members (Affiliated track program staff, NCAC representatives from other clubs, etc.) access as well. Also only club members can accumulate points toward end of year championships.

Club membership runs from January through December. We give 3-4 months of a grace period to give people a chance to renew. But after that grace period, I compare the forum membership against the official club membership list and then disable the forum accounts for members who have let their club membership expire. Unfortunately, I am woefully behind on this for 2011 and didn't even do this for 2010.

So this is your notification that if you have not renewed, that in two weeks or so, your forum account is going to be deactivated. Deactivating an account is not the same as deleting it. Post history, etc. will still exist while an account is deactivated. If you renew after the deactivation, or even rejoin the club at a much later date, I can re-enable your account. In addition to this notice on the forum, I will be sending out emails so that those who don't check the forum frequently will be notified. So if your forum account lists a valid email account you will get a notice if you are about to loose your forum access.

If you know that you have just forgotten to renew, then use the form from the main THSCC web site to renew…

http://www.thscc.com/general/forms/mem_app.pdf

The form contains information on both how to join initially as well as how to renew your membership. Also, if you renew, just let me know via email at forums@thscc.com that you have renewed and I can update my list.

I have put together a list of those who I believe have not renewed for 2011. The list is rather large as it includes some who didn't renew in 2010 and may also not be active participants. As mentioned, above there will most likely be mistakes, so if you feel you have renewed, just let me know and provide some details so I can give those to Bowie and have him update his spreadsheet. Also as mentioned above, I will be emailing those on the list to notify them. If your forum account is linked to a bad email address, then we can't contact you.

I am always on the fence about posting a list on the forum. But I also realize that most people on the list have just plain forgotten to renew. I know that if I wasn't the one doing this, that I would probably consistently forget to renew year after year!

I expect that the reminder emails will go sometime this week (maybe as soon as tonight) and I will give people about a two weeks after the emails are sent out to respond before I disable forum access. Feel free to post here, PM me or email forums@thscc.com with any questions.

It is entirely possible that anyone who joined very recently (past month or so) would not be on the list I have from Bowie. I tried to find those who recently joined and are new forum member and remove them from my list, but it looks like I have missed at least one.

Before anyone asks... I don't think we have a way to renew via Paypal. Personally I think something like that (as well as an auto-renew option) would be awesome and would greatly help renewal rates. But for now it is a manual process and you either have to remember to renew on your own, or you get this reminder if you happen to be a forum member. Lastly, there is the lifetime membership option.

Ram was playing with some ideas, but he's a slacker ;). Carlton, however, seems not to be a slacker (other than the fact that he's on the list above) and has written some software to broadcast real time results at events for smartphone users. So I decided that I'm going to bring him into the conversation about a dynamic/paypal renew/join system as well.

As always, when it comes to membership stuff, keep Bowie Grey Sr. in the loop. He manages all of that. Currently the list is kept on an Excel spreadsheet. I think that ultimately if there is to be an automated system that it has to be moved into an online database. But we have talked on/off about doing that for years. As my day job is a Database Architect, let me know what I can do when it comes to a database design.

Yep, will put membership in a DB. I talked to Bowie about it. His concerns were access (write a secure front end UI...no big deal) and a copy of the membership app details (can generated based on a web form input and automagically emailed to the Pres/VPs to bring to meeting). Obviously we would demo the system to Bowie, Richard, Carl, Emmie, officers etc before going live with it.

Whoa! I'm 99.9% sure I re-up'd at the holiday party in Wilson but I'll check the ole checkbook tonight.

Can I bring an application to the next meeting with the reasons I want to join the club and all my driving violations?

Crap, I need to mail in my $$$.

Has there been any further discussion of the club accepting Paypal?? I know there have been some on-again off-again discussions about this, and I'm not trying to open a can of worms, but I think the convenience of accepting Paypal payments far outweighs any fees they may charge.

If it's truly a concern, why not require the people who want to use Paypal to add an extra $2 or so to cover fees??????

And, I've offered before, but if the issue is that there's no one who wants to "handle" the Paypal payments- I'll volunteer to be the official THSCC "Paypal Czar"....especially if I can get that title embroidered on an official Members Only jacket.

Bret.

ps- I'm serious.

The above in bold was cut + pasted from the 2009 Membership Purge thread. I'll admit it crossed my mind once or twice that I needed to mail in my dues, but I'm slack so I never got around to it.....yet.

I recall someone saying last year that they were working on an updated method of handling the membership list, and that's the last I heard of it.

I'm not a very tech-saavy guy when it comes to writing code, etc, but I am still willing to do what I can to help facilitate the use of Paypal for membership renewals. It's not that hard, even my 70-something year old Mom uses it to buy and sell stuff on Ebay!!!!!11

What needs to be done and/or who do I need to talk to to get this working????

Thank Richard.

This will help edit the season points for RX.

some will be lucky with a 9 month grace period

although I have already cut-off drivers who are not members. and this list will help eliminate a few more unless they can prove they've paid for this year. Bowie sent me his current membership list and I went off of that.

I will say, that from my experience, when it comes to situations in which there are renewal discrepancies, a common theme is that renewal at events (Christmas Party, Autocross, etc.) sometimes (not always) get lost somewhere somehow. I always mail my renewal in.
